This is a collaboration with the sound artist Garnet Willis, which was funded by the Toronto Arts Council. We combined dance improvisation and generative music created by the Clusterflux, a sound sculpture Garnet designed and built. The Clusterflux includes 48 strings and a parametric network of feedback loops. I programmed a Max patch to process data from a Kinect and use that to interface the dance with the sound sculpture.

To kick off their new Vista line of ships, Carnival threw an epic party at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Combining Kinect technology, Unity (game engine) and custom-made CGI, Helios delivered a guest-driven gesture-interactive journey throughout select Carnival locations with a shareable "Photo Album" takeaway for social media. Guests started the experience by choosing between Caribbean or European region maps and then their preferred homeport before being transitioned into a first person perspective of a ship's bow. Leaning left and right, guests would then try and steer into as many different destination ports before time expired. Using Kinect's background removal technology, guests were then able to take pictures "within" the different ports they visited. Guests could then visit a separate Share Station tablet, enter their info and receive their photo via email with built-in links to Facebook and Twitter.

In the attempt to build a touchscreen using Kinect and Processing, I've constructed a screen with material that stretches when touched. The change in depth of the screen is picked up by the Kinect camera and is displayed in an 'Average Point Tracking' Processing sketch. The image on the left is what appears on the computer screen. It's the video footage shot through the Kinect camera, but manipulated in Processing to track the point with the nearest depth. The image on the right shows a prototype of the touchscreen with user interaction.
