“While I dance I cannot judge, I cannot hate, I cannot separate myself from life. I can only be joyful and whole. That is why I dance” - Hans Bos The gift of sharing and teaching dance is sacred. For me, dance is an outward expression of what lies in our minds, hearts, and souls. I believe it has the potential of becoming a connection point to something greater than ourselves, a doorway that leads us to higher states of joy, love, unity and celebration.

http://immune.club/ An 18-year-old classical dancer from Tanuku was the cynosure of all eyes at the ongoing World Telugu meet being held to showcase the rich culture of Andhra Pradesh. The Kuchipudi dancer, J.Y.N. Ambica kept the audience spellbound, including overseas Telugu people who have come for the “Prapancha Telugu Mahotsavam'', executing most difficult movements at ease. She did a fine balancing act by carrying on her head and hands clay pots with fire and simultaneously twirling a ring with her waist. “I can spin more rings at the same time'', the Hoopla dancer proudly added getting down from the stage. Ambica, daughter of Juvvadi Thammaiah Naidu, a businessman and Lion's club member in Tanuku while talking to The Hindu said that “my mission in life is to achieve greater heights in dancing and also help needy people including orphans, HIV-affected and old people''. She took to dancing at the age of seven with her mother, who had an unfulfilled dream of becoming herself a dancer, spotting talent in Ambica. Trained by Kuchipudi exponent B. Shivanand, she wants to do a certificate course in Kuchipudi. “As my parents take care of my needs and I spend all my earnings from dance performances to help mentally and physically challenged people and children orphaned by HIV-infected parents in Tanuku'', she added. Well-versed in Kuchipudi, western and folk dances Ambica has given over 500 performances on stage including one stage performance each in Dubai and Malaysia. She has also taken part in many dance shows on Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi television channels. She has won 14 awards including ‘Nitya Kalaratna Puraskar' instituted by a cultural organisation in Visakhapatnam and Certificate of Recognition from the India Book of Records. A senior intermediate student in Maths, Economics and Commerce stream aims to Post-Graduation course in Business Administration. Twirling her way to fame...Ambica is also helping HIV and orhan children

Balakka, a feature length documentary, explores the art of Kuchipudi: a South Indian classical dance tradition which is transforming in the global era, with women now taking a leading role. Her story sheds new light on the relevance of dance tradition in the modern world, as well as the important role that women are playing in the preservation of Indian art and culture. For balakka, dance is not an activity, it is a way of life. It's the very lens through which she sees the world. She shares her unique insight into the power of art, and how it enhances life. She believes that Kuchipudi dance is a yoga (union) which encompasses all art forms - literature, music, sculpture, spirituality, and every other imaginable facet of life. Through dance, she strives for her choreographs to reflect this inner search. This film will also feature excerpts from the brand new ballet choreographed by Balakka and its premiere in the United States.
