There is no better word to describe this project, born from a special and pleasant meeting: the one between the Alex Baccari's hang drum and Lorenzo Perracino's saxophones. These instruments represent the "sonic pillars" of Eufonia Project, but many others are involved in its orbit, coming from countries and musical cultures so distant geographically, but surprisingly close to the listener. Even though are both modern and made in Europe (sax comes from belgium and Hang was developed in Switzerland), they surprise for their timbric characteristics, able to evoke exotic images: not accidentally their roots and some design and structural elements derive from Oriental music cultures. Thanks to this, Eufonia Project's music can build a sound bridge between East and West, with the help of other ethnic instruments, such as santoor, sitar, xaphoon, kora, duduk, bansuri and many others. As well as the choice of the Greek Language, which for centuries has joined and put into communication cultures from the different sides of the ancient World, the aim of Eufonia Project is let the Music, as one of the best universal and cross-cultural languages, gather in one harmonious and pleasant embrace the two souls who participate in their events: the voice of the instruments and their audience. I was luckily a little shielded from the strong winds as air temps. were in the single digits and the wind chill was well below zero. Filmed from the Black Rocks in Marquette, MI. 1/4/15. It's finally done! About a year and half ago, I challenged myself to this project. Inspired by many of the other time lapse projects out there I decided to make one of my own after discovering a love for time lapse while photographing the Auroras. With pretty much no money to even make a budget and working only with gear I already had I set out over the next year to gather as much time lapse footage as I could manage. Thus, Light and TIme, was born. This project was my effort to capture some of the lengths of time I got to enjoy while watching nature at it's finest. As I started to envision the footage going together I started thinking of rather dramatic movements as the aurora can only bring. The more I thought of it the more the idea of music that would make you dance came about. Then I came upon Lindsey Stirling's song , Crystallize. It was perfect. The way it started slow and worked up to small peaks and of course hit the big peaks of intensity and then back down and back up and back down again. I found it a perfect metaphor for the activity of the northern lights. As anyone who has ever spent time watching the northern lights know they are not always moving fast and crazy sometimes they are just a glow, other times they shimmer, and of course if you are lucky they dance! That is what this project was about, bringing that all together. Even the way I progress through the footage is meant to mimic the movement of time going from day to night and then back and then back to night it all forms together to make a great symphony of light, sound, and time. One of which I hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching! As I said, the music in the background is from Lindsey Stirling and her song Crystallize.
