Was walking on campus and stumbled upon a Lantern Lighting event to raise money for a suicide prevention call center. Decided to take some video on my iPhone while watching, and this is the result... not bad for zero planning! As you can imagine the event organizer is elated :)

We were booked. Our 2014 season had been full since the end of January... and then Lauren called :) This was a rarity for us, but it can only be described as "just feeling right." We opened our calendar back up and booked Lauren + Dave only three week before their wedding. So it went like this: After taking a call from Lauren, who informed me that she had spent the day watching every single video we had... and crying through most, she was super interested in having us film her day. I told her that we were super excited that she liked what "we do," but we couldn't... we were booked. I did, however tell her that I would help her find another videographer. But something kept picking at me. Lauren had sent over her contact information with a rough outline for the day so I could pass it along to others... and after reading through it all, talking with Mindy... and then talking with Lauren again on the phone... rearranging a vacation... some other items on the calendar... another conversation with Lauren... another conversation with Mindy... and then a conversation with the kids... we went for it. And we are SO glad that we did. As a couple they were fun, happy, and very in love with each other. I feel like i'm a broken record sometimes, but couples who freely show affection to each other make for REALLY good footage. They had no problem with that. I also loved that they could laugh at themselves, each other, and us :) The venues were also gorgeous. We started at two rented beach houses in Michigan city, a first look on the beach of Lake Michigan, and then a ceremony and reception in the vineyards of Willow Harbor Vineyards & Polo Club. Needless to say, this was a lovely day. Thanks to a great couple who trusted us with telling their story. This trailer give a great glimpse in to what is to come.

                      from LumiVision Studio / Added

The Obon is a Japanese Buddhist custom to honor the spirits of one's ancestors. This Buddhist-Confucian custom has evolved into a family reunion holiday during which people return to ancestral family places and visit and clean their ancestors' graves, and when the spirits of ancestors are supposed to revisit the household altars. It has been celebrated in Japan for more than 500 years and traditionally includes a dance, known as Bon-Odori.
This video documents a modern celebration of Obon at the Fresno (California) Buddhist Dharma Center on July 12, 2014. It was filmed by a one-man crew utilizing a Canon 600DML DSLR and a Rode onboard mic. It was edited and graded in Final Cut Pro X.
