ThinKopter

A web page in Chrome on the phone reads the phone's accelerometer and constructs and sends an 8x8x8 frame of voxels 100 times per second over a Websocket connection to an L3D Cube. On the Spark Core a Websocket server implementation takes the frame of voxels and pushes it to the LEDs.

This is a solid wood picture frame, illuminated by a RGB LED strip. The main picture is a fabric made of Tule resin, crafted by Mayan craftsmen. The frame has a small control interface for changing the behaviour mode of the LEDs and tweaking some brightness and color settings. There are 3 modes of operation: - Interactive mode. The LED´s hue and brightness are dynamically calculated based on an audio input, recieved through a mini microphone integrated on the frame base. The user can adjust the sensibility of the microphone. - Static mode. All the LEDs create a low-light amber atmosphere. The user can adjust the overall brightness of the ambient. - Hue animation mode. In this mode the user can adjust a base color and programatically, the LEDs slowly animate their hue around armonic colors based on their position on the hue wheel. This was an attempt to create my first physical interactive project. The main objective was to build up some experience working with electronics and sensors. I was looking to experiment on different ways to interact with the environment surrounding us. As I´m just learning about electronics and am looking to experiment on 'physical interaction', I wanted to take my tinkering projects one step further and try to develop a more "end-product" result. I´m very interested on the Maker movement, so, this was also an opportunity to head on to a new research adventure. For this project I came with the simple idea of building an interactive picture frame. I decided to build up a LED driven picture frame. The LED colors and intensity would be controlled by an external ‘environmental’ input, in this case, audio input. This is a demo of the final project. If you want to learn more about my experience, the process and some photos, please read more at: http://icreate.io/blog/audio-responsive-picture-frame

                      Tags

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
