Speaking Out for the Springs of Florida John Moran, Florida Nature Photographer Tallahassee, February 16, 2010 From the steps of the State Capitol, John Moran challenges the Florida Legislature to act now to protect the state’s unique freshwater springs, which are succumbing to spiking nitrates, overpumping of the aquifer, and legislative neglect. Calling the springs the “spiritual lifeblood of Florida,” Moran’s speech at the Florida Springs Rally reveals his sense of loss at the changes he’s seen. As he speaks, a collection of his springs photography illustrates the beauty and degradation Moran has witnessed over the past 30 years. “Our beloved springs are world-class treasures that deserve world-class protection. Not more procrastination,” Moran says, ending his speech with a measure of hope and a call to action. Watch the 12-minute video, and share it with a friend. Tell the Florida Legislature we need meaningful springs protection now--GO TO: http://bit.ly/dA09zT

President Obama signed his landmark health care bill — the most expansive social legislation enacted in decades. After the bill was signed into law, President Obama left on a secret trip in the presidential helicopter, and the following video was leaked. Apparently, there were supporters from beyond who came to show their support and celebrate with American earthlings.

An upbeat musical documentary about the Manif Casseroles Rally held in Toronto on May 30, 2012. ------ Credits: A film by Elizabeth Littlejohn "Resilience" Written and Performed by Annabelle Chvostek ------ Director's Statement: I directed this musical documentary of the Manif Casseroles, held on May 30 in Toronto, to support Québec students, and to include a discussion about the democratic right of civil society to control access to our education, natural resources, and cultural heritage as they are being undercut by Bill C-38, Bill-78 Bill-55, and the federal budget, as currently proposed by Canada's Conservative Government. I was so moved by Jeremie Battaglia's Casseroles - Montréal, 24 Mai 2012 video at http://vimeo.com/42848523 that I decided to make a call and response video to his work from my perspective -- in joyous colour, with a woman singing -- which reflects the diverse, politicized beauty of Toronto.

This is the first installment of a documentary which examines the copyright legislation in Guyana, South America told through the voices of a handful of local artists, musicians and creatives. In Guyana, the copyright legislation has not been updated since 1956. As a result, many modern day intellectual assets (music, video, software development) are not described or identified within the act. It is within this context that these creatives look at how the lack of such protection affects them as they look towards their future. This film is a personal project and as such, I produced it entirely on my own over the space of approximately 10 months, releasing it on December 16, 2013. Most of the footage was shot specifically for this film, but additional photography and video footage was provided some of the contributors and by Wildfire Productions (Guyana). The production gear was comprised of four cameras; Canon 7D, a Canon 60D, a Canon HD Vixia HG21 and a GoPro HD Hero 2. The DSLRs were accompanied by a few lenses (Canon 24mm - 105mm f/4, Canon 18mm - 135mm f/3.5 - 5.6, Canon 55mm - 250mm f/5.6 and a Canon 50mm f/1.8, Canon 50mm f/1.4). For sound recording I used a Zoom H4N sound recorder and a pair of microphones (a shotgun and a lavalier). Where possible i used some studio lights, some LED lights, lighting stands and a pair of Manfrotto tripods. Post production was done using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and happened simultaneously with shooting.
