      • Manitoba Legislative Attacked by Digital Terrorists

The Manitoba Legislative Building was attacked today by a militant cell of digital terrorists. Armed only with their high-tech smart phones, the digital terrorists virtually levelled the historic building as seen in the above video. Government officials say there is no feasible way to rebuild this building, once a hot spot for masonic activity and conniving politics. In the meantime legislative proceedings have been relocated to a housing co-op on Keewatin St. across from the Tim Horton's, by Fred's old place. Rumours are already flying about the potential repurposing of the legislative site. Gail Asper has already come forward with an artists conception of the Asper Horizontal Rock-Climbing Wall for Handicapped Children. Mayor and father-to-be Sam Katz has criticized this plan, saying "only a fucking megalomaniac lunatic would propose some kind a dagnabbit idea like this" and continued to call the handicapped children "dem young whippersnappers". If Katz has his way, Goldie's Happy Ending Hot Tubs and Water Park will be erected by construction crews before the end of 2012. Rhea Yates, press secretary for the mayor says the new recreation and relaxation centre will be "a load of fun for the whole family." Yates also explained that Winnipeg taxpayers need not worry, since the entire project will be funded using the pension funds of Winnipeg Transit employees. But many expect that perennial Winnipeg favourite Leo Ledohowski, owner of the Canad Inns dynasty, will be successful in this ongoing bidding war. Ledohowski has plans to build a "really, really, really nice parking lot, with all of the modern amenities," for the employees of Great-West Life across the street. "People will like it," he added angrily. When asked about the ethics of paving over the site of one of the most prominent structures in Winnipeg, Ledohowski replied, "Oh c'mon. It was really, really, really old already. This is what they call progress."

Les Miserables, "Do You Hear the People Sing?" was sung in the capitol rotunda in Madison, Wisconsin at 1pm on Sunday February 27th, 2011 to protest Governor Scott Walker's Budget Repair Bill. This video was taken from the 2nd floor balcony with a canon powershot SD500 digital elph camera (so low quality, sorry). Soloists in the middle of the rotunda sang the first and second verses, while people throughout the entire capitol on all levels jumped in for the chorus. OPENING: Snare drum and trumpet fanfare. SOLOISTS: Do you hear the people sing, singing the song of working men? It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again. When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums, there is a life about to start when tomorrow comes. Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me? Beyond the mass parade, is there a world you long to see? Then join in the fight that will give you the right to be free. EVERYONE: Do you hear the people sing, singing the songs of working men? It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again. When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums, there is a life about to start when tomorrow comes. SOLOISTS: Will you dedicate your all so that our freedom may advance? Some will stand and some will fall. Will you stand up and take your chance? Let’s fill the Rotunda ‘til everyone joins in the chants. EVERYONE: Do you hear the people sing, singing the songs of working men? It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again. When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums, there is a life about to start when tomorrow comes. EVERYONE repeats chorus one more time.

The Arizona Legislature has proposed to cut $1.5 billion from education budgets over the next year and a half. They plan to cut state aid for K-12 education by about $900 million — 20 percent of the current funding for Arizona's already underfunded schools. They also proposed a cut of $243 million to the Arizona University System for the current fiscal year and $388 million for the next — about 30 percent of the university system's state aid. But you can stop them. You can speak up. Go to http://speakupnowaz.org
