Sometimes the simple things work best and this is a great example of a major health care fix that doesn't cost millions $s. Here we show how the amazing Riders for Health bring hope and health to the people of rural Lesotho.

Peter Frickel was born in South Africa, in a home on a hill that looked out over the vast Indian Ocean. His father a doctor, his mother a nurse cared for the local villagers, the Zulu king, his wives and many of his people. As a young boy, he dreamt of joining the French Foreign Legion, exploring the great continent of Africa and visiting the seven wonders of the world. He saw them except the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon, a decision made by the flip of a coin during his travels. “Heads goes west” he still recalls. After graduating with a degree in economics, fluent in English, Afrikaans, Zulu and well versed in Latin, he made plans to trek across Africa. He would travel from the Cape of Good Hope, the most southern tip of Africa to the pyramids in Cairo, Egypt, the gateway from Africa to the Middle East. After hiking much of his homeland and the neighboring nation of Mozambique, he decided to journey by foot wherever possible. He would see more from the road, go to more places, meet more people and possibly find the difference that lies between imagination and reality. With no intervention, up to 45% of babies born to HIV-positive mothers could be born with or contract the virus. This can be reduced to less than 5% with effective interventions. In Lesotho, health workers are traveling far and wide to make sure HIV-positive mothers do whatever they can to prevent HIV transmission to their babies. Mothers often refuse to seek treatment because of the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS, but HIV Counsellor Lefulesele Masokanye knows more than most how this can be fatal. Sadly, we must report that since the making of this film, Lefulesele has died of her illness. www.riders.org

Project 222 is the collective term for the summer mission trip run through Chi Alpha campus ministries at the University of Central Arkansas. Its name comes from 2 Timothy 2:2 "And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." Our teams spent time in Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho, and South Africa. The footage you see here is all from Lesotho and South Africa. This video is a brief representation of the time we shared with our African brothers and sisters, who became family to us so quickly. God's kingdom is pretty awesome.

In aid of cancer research and The Sunflower Fund of South Africa, and in memory of Jade Preston, The Jade Sky Hike took place on Sunday 15 June 2014 from the South African Border Post at Sani Pass - and made its tortuous way into the face of gale-force winds to the border post of the Kingdom of Lesotho 8km up the incredibly rugged road suitable only for 4x4 vehicles. As Basotho musicians beat a powerful rhythm, the hikers struggle up the Pass. It was really, really windy. And, like the battle with cancer, really, really tough.
