1. Chandelier Tree

    from Colin Kennedy Added 142K 1,893 86

After living just down the street from this amazing tree for over 6 years and enjoying it almost daily on walks through the neighborhood, I finally decided to get the full story behind it. So, this winter while shooting the "Pyrakantha" music video { http://vimeo.com/colinkennedy/pyrakantha } I sat down with its creator, Adam Tenenbaum, to get the backstory on the Chandelier Tree. The theme of this study is the mechanical transformation, a change of the form. The 5 items that have arisen here, fall back in form and process of change on analogies from nature. A sphere, the simplest geometric shape that we know, serves as a starting form.

Musicvideo about the relation of light, music and architetcture. Music by Saltillo "The Opening" from the album Ganglion. Go get it on itunes and amazon! The clip is defined by 3 elements. - One videofile, shot between 2 and 6 pm. - The speed of playback of this file, which is synchronised manually to the music. - About 50 different masks that define where the underlayed movie is going to appear on the screen. This makes it possible to have multiple light situations at the same moment. So basically, the sunlight caught from the building is the "natural" palette for the entire colors of the clip. www.lumitectura.net

For most photographers, the hours around dawn or dusk are the most exciting times of day. This new time-lapse piece is a collection of some of my favorite nightfall sequences of the past year, mostly shot around downtown Seattle. from Philip Bloom Added 27.1K 123 75

A little unscientific low light test with the above cameras at different ISOs starring my dad Arnie Bloom (thanks Bloomy!) who stayed up well past his bedtime to help me out. All the camcorders were shot using the Zeiss CP.2 85mm T2.1 and the Canon 5DmkII was shot with a Canon 50mm L series at F2. Not ideal with the Canon Lens but I wasn't planning on doing another test so didn't have an appropriate lens for the Canon, so background is quite different as I am much closer to him. Picture profile on AF101 is the low noise profile by Abel Cine. Slightly less dynamic range in favour of less noise. All is ungraded, straight out of the camera so skin tones etc will differ. All cameras shot with internal codec and media. NO external recorders used. My full blog post comparing the cameras and reviewing the FS100 is coming on the 4th of May here: www.tinyurl.com/657fvcu Thanks to Suresh Kara and Mike Tapa of MTF services and another big thanks to my lovely Dad!! Co-produced by www.Documovie.co.uk and Kessler University. Music: Freshly Squeezed from Twin Peaks by Angelo Badalmenti.

Mt. Rainier in the state of Washington is one of the Cascade volcanoes that generates some amazing, other-worldly clouds. Because it is so high (over 14,400 feet / 4300 meters) it acts like a giant rock in the atmosphere. Winds blowing over the top sometimes form wave clouds (also called lenticular clouds) in the lee of the mountain. On occasion, these can end up looking like UFOs, flying saucers, or stacks of pancakes. This time lapse set has been a long time in the making -- as I captured enough sequences to get a continuous flow. Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
