1. FORTUNA (2013) by Grimanesa Amorós

    from Grimanesa Amoros Added 19 1 0

FORTUNA, located in the Tabacalera, is a light sculpture that reflects the history of the old Tobacco factory, which was there before the art center. The name FORTUNA comes from the filters that were used for the La Tabacalera cigars. When a cigar is lit, the papers that surround the tobacco start to disintegrate from the heat. It is the filter, however, that allows the tobacco flavor to come through before it comes to an end.

Saiyah#2 kinetic light sculpture by Yoko Seyama Using the light source which is as white as daylight, the light is split into two colors. The full range white light goes through the spectral glass which transmit only a specific color wavelength. At the same time the light reflects the remaining wavelengths. With this simple mechanism, the colors can be remixed again to create new colors. In this case, I am using four different spectroscopic glasses to create so many complex colors. Llum-i-links is an ephemeral installation by artec3 Studio and Michela Mezzavilla that was designed to guide attendees of the Llum BCN 2015 Light Festival through the narrow streets of Barcelona´s Old Town. Curtains of fine metal chains—color-coded silver, red, and gold— hung from street lamps, creating moving veils of light and texture that enticed the public and identified the three festival walking routes. This year’s attendees were enthusiastic about the lighting scheme and appreciated not having to pull out their maps at every corner. During the day, the witty and elegant chain curtains were celebratory reminders of the riches to come after dark, while each evening, they brought to luminous life the three itineraries through the city streets. from Children Of Darklight Added 41 0 0
