Efficiency Nova Scotia offers a win/win proposition. It works with businesses and home owners to provide advice and guidance about using energy smarter as well as financial incentives to support the installation and implementation costs of new solutions. It also faces a challenge in promoting the value and credibility of the organization – which receives funding from the provincial government and through a power bill surcharge – in a market that is increasingly critical of the power generation sector, and may not fully appreciate Efficiency Nova Scotia’s independence from both Nova Scotia Power and the provincial government. The recent Bright Business Conference, held in Halifax, was an opportunity to provide some clarity about the organization’s role and purpose, help raise awareness about the value of energy efficiency, and increase the uptake of efficiency solutions. It also provided a forum to celebrate the successes of individuals and companies across the province who have been early adopters of smarter energy use. Journeyman Film Company was commissioned to create a series of seven vignettes, showcasing the work of each of the award winners, plus an event opener that featured two further projects supported by Efficiency Nova Scotia. Eight films, all researched, shot, edited and delivered in four weeks! Quite a task, but one that we undertook with our usual enthusiasm… From Cape Breton lobsters to Musquodoboit dairy cows, from students in Bedford to shoppers in Sydney, we explored many of the different ways that being more energy efficient is making a real impact throughout Nova Scotia. “I just wanted to thank you all again for turning around fantastic work in such a short timeframe. We had over 400 people attend the conference yesterday and the videos really added a lot to the event. We are extremely happy with the results and all the award winners are impressed how well their stories turned out.” - Margo Coughlin – Marketing Manager, Efficiency Nova Scotia www.journeymanfilm.com

In the small fishing town of Cromer, Norfolk, relatively little has changed over the past few generations. The local fisherman catch the renowned Cromer Crab just a stone's throw from the shore and sell to a demanding public. But recently, amateur divers have discovered that the chalk reef which they fish upon is the largest in Europe and possibly even the world. There are plans to create a Marine Conservation Zone on the reef to protect a valuable natural resource and area of scientific interest, but the proposal has upset some of the Cromer fisherman. Whilst both sides argue a conflict of interest, could it be that they have a common goal?

SHY YETI BOTTLE SUMMER is a film to remind us that we did actually have a few days of Summer during 2012. It was recorded in a number of locations around the UK between June and July 2012 and includes 3 new poems, NATIONAL TREASURE, SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH ROCKY LOBSTER and I'M SICK, BUT DO I WANT TO BE CURED? - all of which will eventually appear in Paul's NOT AS SHY AS I WAS book at some stage soon, probably early 2013. This episode contains a yeti-dance or two and also co-stars Dominic McCauley. Music is by Luca. Camera by PC & DM. The copyright of this film and all content belongs to Paul Chandler, 2012. This is a Shy Yeti Production. There may well be a sequel to this episode coming along in the autumn, but shhh... don't say I told you so! Please note: This version of the film is 3 minutes shorter than the version available on Youtube at: http://youtu.be/HKaeruG8N8Y Although all poems and yeti dances remain, alas, you do not get to meet Rocky Lobster face-to-face in this version!
