1. Tuesday Tactic #2 - Drinking A Sweet Death

Ingredients such as sucrose, fructose, maltodextrin, dextrose and galactose, are all types of sugar. So What’s The Problem? We eat way too much sugar. Back in the early 1900s, people ate about 70 pounds a year. Today, it’s common for the average person to swallow about 152 pounds of sugar a year. That’s about the size of a high school wide receiver. Much of what we eat contains high fructose corn syrup. This is a highly inflammatory substance and potentially full of toxins. On last week’s Periscope, I shared the story of a nasty toxin that corn takes up and stores. This toxin can be ingested when consuming many of the various corn products we all eat (including high fructose corn syrup). Many age researchers label sugar as fuel for cancer. Sugar fuels a variety of detrimental health problems. Take a look at native populations such as the Inuit and certain populations in Kenya. When sugar appeared in their diet, all the typical Western diseases followed. The Myth Of Diet Soda Just to touch on the issue of artificial sweetners. These are not the answer either. The alteration of sweetness perception generally results in eating more and more food. The palate no longer derives the same satisfaction from naturally sweet foods. The result eating more. Put down that can of diet soda for another reason – methylglyoxal. It’s 100X more potent that sugar and messes up your cholesterol. LDL is considered “bad” cholesterol, but in its natural form it doesn’t cause problems. When it becomes altered (oxidized) the damage and risk accumulate in the body. Methylglyoxal alters LDL and turns it into a dangerous form and also increases the risk of developing diabetes. Think Before You Drink Take a moment in think about what you are putting into your body. We get so busy during the average day and give little thought to what we are doing. Eating is instinctual and it takes effort to make healthy choices and incorporate them into our day. What The Label Doesn’t Say Every wonder why food labels fail to list what % the recommended daily intake of sugar is? The reason is political and has nothing to do with our health. The bottom line is: There is NO recommended daily amount of sugar intake. CLICK TO TWEET That should tell you something. Take a look around your space right now.
