How can we all come together to strengthen American democracy? Thanks to the Looking@Democracy Digital Media Challenge, we're already doing it—coming together to look at democracy. Our short Ask the Future widens the circle by turning to the next-gen voter, too young to count but old enough to matter. She's already watching, listening, forming opinions. She thinks the system needs changing and makes a strong claim for the untapped political energy of youth. To strengthen American democracy, we will need her help. So we ask the future now. Materialistfriends is the partnership we formed for the Challenge, and filmmaking a first for all of us. Brian Collins comes from secondary school teaching, Courtney Cook writing and editing. Grace Collins, Ask the Future's next-gen voter, is 15 years old, lives in New Hampshire, and loves to sing. We've all enjoyed this project so much we're already planning another. Stay tuned for Too Big: How Not to Save the Planet.

What if democracy became the new cause? What if we championed democracy the same way we champion social causes we are passionate about?
