As a result of this infatuation, existence overflows with purpose. Through immoderation, he experiences something akin to rapture.” Yosemite Valley has long been regarded as the holy land for climbers and boulderers throughout the world. The origins of rock climbing lie in the 3000-foot granite walls lining the valley and the boulders that sit strewn about below these staggering monoliths. In the late weeks of November, the Louder Than 11 crew gathered from all corners of the country to experience Yosemite Valley bouldering. As a group of passionate individuals, we enveloped ourselves in the landscape for two weeks, attacking boulders as if tomorrow would never come. On the surface, the very foundation of our identities is built on rock climbing—a sport that we believe is the greatest on the planet—but there is much more to this seemingly inherent addiction than meets the eye. With Park Life, we strive to answer this age-old, omnipresent question: Why? By combining difficult climbing, captivating visuals, and engaging music under the all-encompassing umbrella of a professional production company, we hope to portray a unique lifestyle that has given us all a palpable sense of unwavering purpose. The long-lasting friendships, incessant failure and equally abundant success, reckless commitment and dedication driven to the point of complete and utter irresponsibility; it’s an eternal battle. We do it because we love it. At LT11 our media is always free, whether you like it or not. I figured out how to use topographic DEM data to create physically accurate 3D maps of terrain inside Cinema 4D. I show you where and how to get that data and a couple of ways (one free 3rd party program) to get that data inside C4D and work with it. Then I show you a simple technique using multiple renders and z-depth compositing to create this effect inside After Effects: https://vimeo.com/51449395 For more info visit: http://jordanshipman.lt11.com/2012/10/15/use-elevation-data-to-create-3d-maps/ http://www.lt11.com http://pro.lt11.com http://jordanshipman.lt11.com http://facebook.com/louderthan11 http://twitter.com/therealshipman

Usually, topping out boulders isn’t even fun unless you’ve flashed them. We all know this. This video analyzes the complex logic behind this truth, and documents the efforts of the world’s king of flashing in his latest onslaught against a brand new boulder. Undoubtedly, after millions of people have watched this video, the flashing trend will begin its rightful reign and send the practice of ‘projecting’ into complete obsolescence. Soon enough, you won’t even get the points for sending the boulder problem unless you flashed. A new 8a.nu will emerge with only one option for ascent-type: flash. Welcome to the future.

A van overloaded with too many people sputters and coughs as it rolls to a stop in front of an old, ill-kept hotel. Bald, hand-patched tires let out a sigh of relief as a band of American climbers tumble out of the rickety jalopy that has been their home for the last 10 hours. Overhead, two thousand feet of striped, limestone cliffs loom above dense jungle as Ben Spannuth unpacks his gear from the back of the make-shift bus. The travel day is at an end. Tomorrow, he will explore the caves eroded into the face of the rock. Welcome to Colombia! Follow Ben as he develops and sends new routes in the latest film by Louder Than 11, presented by FIVE TEN®.

Over the years I have developed a few tricks for shooting video from a rope that have made my life a whole lot easier and saved my legs from hours of blood circulation torture. One of the most common questions I get from new videographers is “How do you shoot video from a rope and how do you keep the camera steady!” As a result, I put together a blog to cover the essentials of rigging and shooting from a rope for a simple scenario like sport climbing. There is nothing worse then a wobbly angle of your bro crushing his project to ruin a potentially great climbing film. Follow these simple rules and you will come away with something you can show your mother. Check out my detailed blog on the topic here:
