The Moore County Republican Men's Club held its March meeting at the Country Club of NC. The program began at noon. The featured speaker was Pat Corso, executive director of Moore County Partners in Progress, a public/private partnership promoting economic development in our county. Pat focused his remarks on the Partners' latest initiative "Moore Forward", an incubator now up and running in the Village of Pinehurst to provide entrepreneurs with a public/private partnership support system to help get their businesses off the ground. He also spoke of the Mega-Park, which also caters to public-private partnership ventures. Pat also brought Matt West, an entrepreneur supporter of the Moore Forward project. Mr. West has built his entire business career on public-private partnerships in the "sports industry" as well as in the Durham and Bull City Forward organization. There is considerable justification to be skeptical and to distrust this over-emphasis on public-private partnerships to foster growth in Moore County. Mr. Corso recently addressed the Moore Republican Women's Club, and my cautionary commentary regarding his address to that group applies here. Read that commentary at: http://www.westknollwoodprecinct.com/1/post/2013/03/march-3-2013-moore-republican-womens-club-meeting.html Mr. Corso brags about "bringing" the First Bank Headquarters to Southern Pines. As reported in The Pilot (http://www.westknollwoodprecinct.com/uploads/7/8/5/8/7858119/20130313_first_bank_hq_subsidy_-_thepilot.pdf), this fiasco was accomplished through shameful government subsidization of business by the Moore County and Southern Pines governments. Nick Picerno was the only honorable man in this entire affair. Everyone else, including the entire Southern Pines Town Council compromised principles to participate in this sordid affair. Public-private partnerships always ultimately result in "scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" backroom corrupt collusions. They may begin with the best of intentions and politically pronounced good hopes, but no real good can ever come from this bad seed. No good fruit can come from an evil tree. I fear our county is falling prey to the "Partners" siren call and corrupted message that only government bribes and underwriting can foster growth. C'mon elected officials! Develop some confidence and real ethics! Promote our county and our towns honestly! Don't try to bribe and buy crony "capitalists". I am so disappointed in everyone involved except Commissioner Picerno. Thanks, Nick for having and sticking to your principles!

This video shows photos & video clips during our after-service Italian-Valentines luncheon here at The Point Church of the Nazarene in San Jose, CA. The occasion took place at the gymnasium. The theme was Italian so we had Italian food, mostly of pasta/spaghetti and lasagna. It was almost Valentine's Day so the theme was also of Valentines, hence the luncheon was called, "I Love My Family & Friends". We had lots of good Italian food, fellowship, fun & games. Games included trying to make a conversation with others, but in the Italian language & a multiple choice worksheet with questions related to the Italian subject. Enjoy the video!
