You can never have enough protein - or so most Americans believe. Dr. Weil responds to our culture’s protein obsession by reminding us that too much protein is as unhealthy as too little. The traditional Vedic agriculture uses urine from the cow as pesticide and cow dung as a fertilizer. The movement called Zero Budget Natural Farming combines traditional methods with modern scientific research. It integrates water saving thecnics with a base of cow urine and dung, which activates the microorganisms that are naturally present in the soil. The movement was born to arrest the flow of money that goes from the rural communities to the city for the purchase of tractors, diesel, fuel, fertilizers pesticides, and seeds. After the tsunami had destroyed the south east coast of India, agriculture was brought to its knees. Many farmers couldn't face the rising debts with the banks and sadly committed suicide. Mr. Palekkar, a charismatic activist and leader of the movement Zero Budget Natural Farming, has studied for years the natural interrelations of plants in the virgin forest, and developed an integrated system for farmers, saving water, work and money. It is an apolitical movement, which meets the needs of the rural community, and above all, clarifies the limits of intensive agriculture. Through the practical examples of the farms following this method, well discover a pacific local resistance to global lobbies, and a hope for the future of farmers. It's a silent revolution to which we want to give more voice through this independent film. We believe in independent and shared productions that perfectly match with the ideals of the Zero Budget Natural Farming. I`m currently looking for partnetships, collaborations and support to go back to India, visit the farms and Dr. Subash Palekkar and shoot this documentary in HD and with a good equipment.
