Residuum - something left after a removal of a part Hurricane Sandy has come and gone from NYC. The day after it hit NYC, I took my camera on a quick stroll around my hood (Brooklyn Heights). I guess my area wasn't hit as hard as the rest of the land as this video can be mistaken as a rainy fall afternoon in NYC. Things could have been a lot worse. Leaves + water + rain + broken city See what I saw before the storm hit here: https://vimeo.com/52475656 Please consider donating to the Red Cross: https://www.redcross.org/donate/index.jsp?donateStep=2&itemId=prod10002 http://www.craignisperos.com/

An Inquiring Age part of “Codex Dynamic” was a publicly presented video projection exhibition, that took place during the 2012 Dumbo Arts Festival. Comprised of an international cast of artists and covering 33,000+ sq. ft. (3,065 sq. meters) of the Manhattan Bridge Anchorage, Archway and the adjacent cityscape, the exhibition employed the latest in video mapping technologies. Curated by Leo Kuelbs, John Ensor Parker and produced by Farkas Fulop, “Codex Dynamic” considers man’s evolving relationship with time and space. The roots of which, are based on our interactions with the natural world, from developing ancient calendars based on cycles of the sun and moon, to Quantum Mechanical theories and observations. It is not known when man’s conceptualization of time began, but it’s influence on us as individuals and collectively is rooted in the natural world. Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Chinese, and Mayans all developed calendar systems based on natural observations of the Moon's cycles and seasonal changes. These observations of nature formulated our traditional understanding of time as linear constant-rate and are still relevant as with our historical records, calendars, folklore, religion, film, music, visual art and philosophy. Yet today as our knowledge of the natural world increases so are our concepts of time. The Laws of Relativity provide us the opportunity to speed up, slow down, go backwards or even stop time and with Quantum Mechanics time is unrelated to space and may simply be a direction at any moment, in turn, affording an object the possibility of existing at different places at the same time. “An Inquiring Age” explores the ever-changing psyche of both the individual and the collective, as a result of our evolving perspectives of space and time.

I went to the DUMBO art fest and saw this year's video projection installation on the arch of the Manhattan Bridge. It was the first time I've ever seen a video projection in real life and it left me in awe, videos barely do it justice but I pulled out my cameras and shot it from various angles anyway.

Footage taken of 12th Annual Brides March Against Domestic Violence, 9-26-12. Crossing over from upper Manhattan into the Bronx and in front of Court House. More than 100 women, men, and youth marched through the streets of Washington Heights, the South Bronx, Harlem and East Harlem, on September 26, 2012, to remember Gladys Ricart, Jessica Ibe, her 2 young daughters, and numerous other women and children who have been killed in domestic violence incidents. The march aims to raise awareness about the devastating effects of domestic violence on Latinas/os and other families and communities. As the many posters carried by the marchers show, the march also serves to let communities know that services and resources are available to help them. Help is also available for men who want to change their violent behavior.
