In this final Christmas clip, Amber is attempting to master what was actually Levi's Christmas gift. This was not the first attempt and there was a whole lot of kibitzing. Levi (and Andrew) will have their chance when they get it onto their refrigerator back in Durham, but I can't imagine they'll be more excited about a successful run than Amber was.

Powered by a turntable, the Archimedes Screw lifts ball bearings to the tray where they are randomly distributed to different instruments which have been fused with amplified and processed music stands. The resulting interactions between the two creates unique events. http://theshortwave.blogspot.com/

For Picnic we decided to make a large marble run. We made it during the festival: as long and exiting as was possible! Walking through some ideas and concepts for building a Marble Color Sorter. Attention : For those of you who struggle to get correct results with recent versions : Turn off Linear Workflow in your Project Settings !! Mograph : - Using Mograph's Internal Color system instead of Materials to control the Colors of clones. - Using a Gradient in the Mograph Shader Effector to handpick specific Colors and control the random distribution. - Setting up User Data for easy access Xpresso : - Iterating through the clones - Using the Motion Graphics Data Node to read the Color of each separate clone - Using the COFFEE node for multiple simple "if statements" (if the color of a clone equals a specific color then trigger an event) - Using the Dynamics Body State node to execute a dynamic event (trigger Angular Velocity) End Result : The randomly assigned color of a marble controls into which direction it rolls. The concepts presented in this screencast can be used for a wide range of applications. To anybody curious enough for watching this : There's no audio, so feel free to ask any questions if something's not clear. I'll be happy to try and help you out.

We spent the rainy day creating a marble run ... using 3 marble run sets and putting the architecture of our quad-level house to use. The lighting is poor ... but the video makes up for it in fun! music: Pop Goes the World, by Men Without Hats

When the Australian publisher of INDESIGN, Habitus and DQ called upon us to collaborate with them for SATURDAY INDESIGN, Singapore, they had only one single request; do whatever you want with 120 copies of our magazines. Immediately we wondered, how do we show the relevance of design/architecture with respect to the content of the magazines? How do we highlight it’s necessity in our daily metropoli-tic lives? And what could we work on for an installation that was engaging and simple enough to explain design/architecture in it’s rawest form? Our idea was simple. Build an infrastructure of miniature highways/buildings using all the magazines we were given, let the lifeblood of this micro city be marbles instead of vehicles/people, attach a vertical pulley system and let gravity do all the work. We had much bigger plans but having received the magazines only the day before the event, we did whatever we could on the fly to ensure everything worked as we imagined. SATURDAY INDESIGN, Singapore was held on Saturday 21st May 2011 at 72-13, Mohd Sultan Rd.
