1. Tung Ping Chau, 10th & 11th December 2011

10th & 11th December 2011, Tung Ping Chau, Hong Kong Tung Ping Chau is the only place in Hong Kong that is a Country Park, Marine Park and National GeoPark. There is only one campsite on the island and the trail around the island is aprox 7KM. The ferry to the island only runs on weekends and public holidays. The ferry trip takes aprox 90 minutes. If you plan your trip well so that you are on the island at low tide, there is a very good chance that you will see pristine coral sticking out of the water. There are 2 main core areas for the coral. This was filmed on a Canon XF100 in 1920 x 1080 50Mb/s format and converted to anamorphic 2.35 in Compressor. © Bob Thompson

Cabo Pulmo is the northernmost coral reef in the eastern Pacific, and, at around 20,000 years old, it may be the oldest and most important reef in the American Pacific. The preservation of Cabo Pulmo is a local, national, and international success story. After decades of intense fishing had depleted Cabo Pulmo’s marine life, the local communities secured protected status for the reef from the government. In 1995, the State of Baja California Sur made Cabo Pulmo a Natural Protected Area; in 2000 Mexico dedicated it as a National Marine Park. In 2005, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of the “Islands and Protected Areas of the Gulf of California”. In 2008, Cabo Pulmo became a Ramsar International Wetlands Site. This video was designed as educational material and was not created for Profit Purposes as stipulated by the mission of the Gulf of California Marine Program at SIO.

WANT TO HELP SHARKS? .... Send your letter to the Australian government before October 21st telling them you want to stop sharks being taken legally from INSIDE the Great barrier Reef marine park and world heritage area... 600 tonnes of shark is taken each year by professional fishermen with licences, LEGALLY. info and the letter at http://elements5.blogspot.com/p/letter-to-government.html THIS IS IT.... have your say, your reaction is their only hope. At the age of 14, i left school and began underwater filmmaking, certified diver since 11, the oceans are my home, and were my sanctuary until sharks started disappearing from inside the Great Barrier Reef marine park, the same year the Australian government proposed dedicated shark fin fisheries inside the marine park. Now 17 years old with over 450 logged dives, my footage is my way of fighting for the protection of this marine park, and the sharks i grew up with in it... we now take 600 tones of sharks from the GBR each year, 100 million sharks are killed each year by humans, each year 5 people on average are killed by sharks. The GBR is in trouble, the sharks are disappearing, along with them the reef... and we must fight to protect it again...
