Assignment--turn life drawings from the class into an animated film. The models' costuming included a horse mask, chicken mask, and top hat...so music choice was obvious to me. :) Madeleine Mathis 2014 Sound clip from Horse Feathers (C) 1932

A Night at the Opera is a 1935 American comedy film starring Groucho Marx, Chico Marx and Harpo Marx, and featuring Kitty Carlisle, Allan Jones, Margaret Dumont, Sig Ruman, and Walter Woolf King. It was the first film the Marx Brothers made for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer after their departure from Paramount Pictures, and the first after Zeppo left the act. The film was adapted by George S. Kaufman, Morrie Ryskind, and Al Boasberg (uncredited) from a story by James Kevin McGuinness. Plot: A sly business manager and two wacky friends of two opera singers help them achieve success while humiliating their stuffy and snobbish enemies. I had to make Groucho, Harpo, and Chico Marx characters from The Cocoanuts do the Charleston. I used Bitstrips for the base models of each character, then went into photoshop to add textures, details in features, and cut each part into a different layer, then used after effects to make them move like puppets. The Cocoanuts opens Feb 2014 at Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Ticket info here: http://osfashland.org/en/productions/2014-plays/the-cocoanuts.aspx no audio
