The rescue of Mamat, a juvenile orangutan from the rarest subspecies of orangutan in all the world, is incredibly moving. Mamat shows the enormous will to live that all orangutans possess, even after great suffering. This footage was taken by Willie Smits only two weeks after Mamat's rescue by the Indonesian wildlife police (BKSDA), who brought him to the Sintang Orangutan Rescue Center. Footage was supplied courtesy of Dr WIllie Smits | Sintang Orangutan Rescue Center, West Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia.
