11.05.2012 Goethe Institute Amsterdam Compilation of videos by renowned German and Dutch video artists Thomas Mohr with a new original electro-acoustic soundtrack composed and performed live by El Fog / Masayoshi Fujita. MASAYOSHI FUJITA / EL FOG El Fog is a solo project of Masayoshi Fujita (originally from Japan and now Berlin based). El Fog plays vibraphone, combining it with electronics and textured noises. He has been influenced and inspired by electronic music, jazz, dub, hip hop, classical music and by the silence and deepness of the fog and the mountains, and the gravity within. El Fog released two albums: Reverberate Slowly (2007, Moteer, UK) and Rebuilding Vibes (2009, Flau, JP). His latest release, Bird Lake Objects (2010, Faitiche, DE), saw him team-up with German electronic producer Jan Jelinek. THOMAS MOHR Thomas Mohr is a media artist in whose work systems and processes also play a large role. He refers both to conceptual and abstract tendencies in modern art and to automated, computer-generated processes. In his recent work, he became fascinated by the increase of visual information through digital photography. He uses a personal photo archive containing more than 300,000 pictures taken since 1985, re-organizing them in series and patterns, synthesizing and filtering them and confronting them with conceptual and musical themes and compositions. Selected video: Three Blueprints (Anicca, Dukkha, Anatta) (2008, 3'15") Realm 1, Part 1 (2008 15'15") Presented in collaboration with the Netherlands Media Art Institute www.cinesonic.nl

Artist: Masayoshi Fujita Title: Swan and Morning Dews Director: Masaya KATO Label: flau Year: 2013 'Swans & Morning Dews' from the Masayoshi Fujita 1st album "Stories" released on flau 2013. http://www.flau.jp/releases/31.html http://www.thefader.com/2013/02/01/video-masayoshi-fujitaswans-and-morning-dews-twigs-yarn-remix/ Masayoshi Fujita http://masayoshifujita.com/ "Stories" is the first vibraphone solo album by Berlin-based Japanese artist Masayoshi Fujita, who also known as El Fog and a collaboration project with Jan Jelinek. This quietly exquisite album by Fujita, is like a book of illustration, painting 8 delicate pictures of small stories about the nature we are embracing....cloud, forest, river, swan and morning dews....things that we all are so familiar with, but yet so quaint. Masayoshi Fujita's style of solo vibraphone is uniquely inspired by classic and jazz music. In this beautiful album, in additional to some gorgeous strings and bowings, he also introduced some ingenious ideas in making unique sounds, like the usage of bead and aluminum foil on his vibraphone, like a prepared instrument. As such, "Stories" is a wonderful result of the beautiful vibration (of which the name Vibraphone came from) of all the delicate sounds produced in this album. They are poetic, they are melancholic, and they are lushly emotional. album mastered by Nils Frahm Masayoshi Fujita is a vibraphonist and composer based in Berlin. Being influenced by classic, jazz and many other kinds of music, but not following ordinary vibraphone play style and theory of composition, Masayoshi seeks his own sound of vibraphone and new possibility of it. He also makes unique and beautiful sound using bows (for string instruments), strings of beads and other objects on his vibraphone. The music he makes has very unique atmosphere and suggests images and stories to the listener. all info at facebook.com/flaumusic © 2013 flau records
