http://marinafilm.co.uk/ Seductive, fearless, and outrageous, Marina Abramović has been redefining what art is for nearly 40 years. Using her own body as a vehicle, pushing herself beyond her limits – and at times risking her life in the process – she creates performances that challenge, shock, and move us. MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ THE ARTIST IS PRESENT follows the artist as she prepares for what may be the most important moment of her life: a major new retrospective of her work, taking place at The Museum of Modern Art. To be given a retrospective at one of the world’s premier museums is the most exhilarating sort of milestone. For Marina, it is far more: it is the chance to finally silence the question she has been hearing over and over again for four decades: “But why is this art?”

Co-director Matthew Akers Editing Ursula Sommer Biblical character full of mystery, a subject of ancient and contemporary discussions and inspiring muse of literature, art and music, Mary Magdalene found herself at the center of the artistic research of Marta Jovanovic. The artist, who on her path, always reserved the title role to femininity, created a performance for video entitled "MariaMagdalena", of which she is not only the creator, but also the only actress; important aspect, the latter, if you think that Jovanovic rarely puts herself "in the spotlight" of her performances, instead reserving the stage to the public, as happened throughout 2010 with "SHOOT ME!", the project that involved "distinguished strangers" from Rome to Belgrade, from Naples to New York City, to Washington DC. To observe, to test, to study the emotions of the people, all verbs appropriate to the activity of Marta Jovanovic, young and curious artist, but above all "a woman"; what attracts of the feminine, however, not only the aesthetics, but the content of that lovely wrap that is the female body, the intimacy, the deeper thoughts, "hidden" reflections and the secrets that live in every woman. My mother drops blood down a wire from my 3rd story window that leads into my mouth on the street below. All the while she is giving an interview about our family history. and my bloody origins The blood dripping wire forms the hypotenuse of a right angle triangle in space. The audio/video cables that run down the building to a wide screen monitor for the audience to experience is another line of the triangle. The last line connecting these points is the lines written on the sidewalk that diagrams my family tree.

I collected and arranged all SOUND & IMAGE. *harddrive crash resulted in the deletion of the final sequence of the film, so an alternate ending was devised rather expeditiously.
