CHRIST ROOM presents a day in the life of an intentional community house where priests and lay Church members welcome formerly homeless men to live rent-free. Set in Durham, North Carolina, the Rev. Dr. Colin Miller shares his dreams of the Maurin House Catholic Worker house: a place where friendships can be formed through daily prayer and meals among people who would not otherwise meet. This short documentary gives viewers a look into a modern day Christian intentional community in the tradition of Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin's Catholic Worker movement of the 1960s. Is this kind of life together possible? This film explores the tensions created when people from different walks of life come together under one roof. “Christ Room” is a short documentary about the Maurin House Catholic Worker community in Durham, NC. Also known as the Community of the Franciscan Way, Maurin House strives to create hospitality among students, families, and formerly homeless people by fostering friendship that “transcends the alienating differences between the privileged and the poor.” Learn more at http://cfw.dionc.org/ Producer and Editor: Pilar Timpane Assistant Producer: Alex Junho Kim
