      On Monday, April 1, City of Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Sly James visited Chouteau Elementary in the North Kansas City School District to read to students. Students attending were given a free book donated by Mid-Continent Public Library. Turn the Page KC is Mayor James' initiative to encourage and promote literacy for children. Chouteau Elementary is 1 of 4 LINC Caring Communities sites in the district.

              LINC has received $175,000 in donated children's books to distribute to every second- and third-grader in four Kansas City, Mo. school districts - Kansas City, Hickman Mills, Center and Grandview. LINC will distribute the books before school is out. The book distribution will also include information about summer reading programs available at the Kansas City Public Library and the Mid-Continent Public Library. Both library systems have strong summer reading programs.
