                I started learning the Mecanim system in the Unity game engine for animation blending and was having fun with that so I kept going to see if I could create something resembling a game. I started with a character I created in ZBrush/Maya and then added music, sound effects and a simple scoring system. This is my first experience with scripting in C# but it looks a lot like MEL to me so not too alien and the tutorials on the Unity site got me up to speed with the basics. The music is a rough track I recorded a while back that seemed to suit the mood. Still lots of bugs to iron out before I'd call this a proper game, but the learning curve with Unity seems pretty gentle and it's a lot of fun to be able to interact with your animations like this so I'll probably work some more on this.                       Study about simulated group behavior of a flock of zebras. Agents (zebras) are negotiating between themselves different interests and favors. Who watches for predators, meanwhile which other zebras can browse for grass? How do they organize themselves? Factors like hunger, thirst, fear, alert and satiety came into account. The system converged to a stable state where all needs of each agent where fulfilled and rotative vigilance emerged between them naturally. Virtual Agent System implemented in Java and Jade. Unity3D was used as visualization layer. Communication between Java-Agents and Unity3D via custom JSON serialization. This video was presented to a user group, for evaluating the simulated behavior. Subtle 3D positioned sounds of grazing and munching where added as well as wind rustling over the field.
