    Over the past year, hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries in several states received passive enrollment notices as part of the Financial Alignment Initiative. On January 1, 2015, another large wave of passive enrollment will begin. This webinar will provide a timely update for advocates navigating the existing enrollment process, as well as prepare advocates of states expected to begin enrollment in 2015.       Free Webinar Series The California Coordinated Care Initiative: What Advocates Need to Know – Basics The state of California is moving forward with implementation of the Coordinated Care Initiative (CCI), including the recently federally-approved dual eligible demonstration project, now known as Cal MediConnect. The CCI began on April 1, 2014, in some counties. The CCI fundamentally changes the way that Californian dual eligible beneficiaries and other low-income seniors and persons with disabilities get their health care. NSCLC is providing a webinar training series to inform and educate advocates of the upcoming changes and help them understand how their clients will be impacted by the CCI. The series will begin with a number of Basics webinars that will cover: What is the CCI? Who is affected by the CCI? How are beneficiaries affected by the CCI? How does enrollment work?       • After Struggle To Get Autism Therapy, A Bit of Hope | State of Health

        Timothy Wilson wasn't always the bubbly six-year-old he is today. Before he began therapy for Autism, "he didn't say momma or dada, there was no eye contact, he didn't really respond to me," said his mom Jazzmon Wilson. With applied behavior analysis (ABA), his progress was brisk, but when the family moved, his new school district did not off the treatment, and the Wilsons couldn't afford private therapy. Now California has become the first state to meet federal guidelines for Autism treatment, expanding ABA therapy to low-income families through Medi-Cal. Timothy and about 12,000 other kids will now have access.                   New America Media organized the latest in its series of ethnic media and community roundtables on the launch of the new healthcare program -Cal MediConnect piloting in 8 CA counties, including Los Angeles County. This is a new healthcare option for those who have both Medi-Cal or Medicare called dual eligibles, many of whom belong to communities of color. On May 29, 2014, at the St. Barnabas Senior Services Center in downtown L.A., experts and advocates in the field, alongside dual eligible patient-benefiiciaries shared the latest updates and perspectives in this forum in collaboration with the Los Angeles Aging Advocacy Coalition [LAAAC] to a standing room-only crowd of close to 90 people, including about 20 ethnic media professionals and stakeholders This series of media roundtables is part of New America Media's partnership with Harbage Consulting on this California-wide Cal MediConnect media campaign to support the Department of Health Care Services' stakeholder engagement efforts.
