    • Snorkelling the Tetepare Island Lagoon, Solomon Islands

      from Michaela Farrington Added 3,187 6 1

Tetepare is a remote and beautiful uninhabited island in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands. The entire island is a conservation zone and home to a 13km-long marine protected area as well as a small, locally-run not-for-profit ecolodge which supports the conservation program and provides jobs for local people. I shot this video over three days of snorkelling on the house reef at Tetepare, where there is fantastic diversity of coral, fish and invertebrate life as well as healthy populations of dugongs and turtles. A very special place. My husband and I are living on Tetepare for 18 months, working as technical advisors to the conservation project.
