On a recent ZeroGravity training flight, my son and I squirted Diet Coke onto a Mento and filmed the experiment at 300 frames per second with the Casio Exilim EX-F1. Not entirely successful, in part because we had to be strapped to seats while we did this so as to get close to a window for light, but it was great fun.

Here is my take of the infamous Diet Coke & Mentos reaction, filmed at 1200 frames per second using the Casio Exilim EX-F1, and set to music. As the camera records only a wide stripe at 1200fps, I recorded 4 tests (the last one is salt, btw) with the camera set on its side, and then rotated them before compositing.

First off, I would like to apologize for me not posting any videos at all lately. I have been having trouble coming up with ideas. This is all part of a science project that Parker and I am doing for school. What it is, is us testing if the number of dimples we put in a piece of Mentos candy effects the hight of the Diet Coke it is added to. The answer is yes.

Cub Scouts from Midlothian came to the Virginia Museum of Natural History for a sleepover and to earn their geology badge. At the end of the evening, scouts gathered for an exciting volcanic eruption using a 2-liter diet soda and Mentos.

Having fun exploring principles of nanotechnology, using Mentos and a bottle of Coke. How do you illustrate that things behave differently when they are smaller? Here's one way - add Mentos particles of different sizes to Coke, and observe what happens. The experiment needs some work, but you can still see that ground-up Mentos behave differently to the whole Mentos, as they enter the Coke bottle
