        Armando, an undocumented restaurant worker, dreams of becoming a filmmaker. The filmmakers aim to expand A BETTER LIFE into a feature-length documentary following the lives of immigrant workers through an intimate, cinéma vérité aesthetic. We strive to bring out of the shadows working-class immigrants in order to start a conversation about what it means to be American. Steven Liang is a community-based filmmaker. Formerly, Steven interned at Participant Media and Justin Lin's Universal-based Barnstorm Pictures. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Fulbright Fellowship and the Carl David Fellowship in Film & Video. His goal as a documentarian is to tell the stories of underrepresented communities.
