This is number 3 in a series of four time lapse narratives I shot, directed and produced for The Huntington Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA. The archive is a bit over 59,000 photos and spanned from mid-August of 2013 thru mid-June of 2014. I've used a lot of fairly common time lapse techniques in this film: dolly moves, pans, tilts, hyper-lapse sequences, push ins and pull outs. (which were done in post) I kept things moving so time goes by quickly. I'm a Canon boy with the exception of a couple of GoPros and two Sigma lenses. The Syrp Genie, eMotimo TB3, Dynamic Perception Stage 0 Dolly and the Lil' Mule are my current motion control systems but I'm working on something new...stay tuned for that. I did a few things in post that I wouldn't have been able to do if I hadn't shot the footage correctly, namely the push ins and immediate pull backs. Can you spot them? Two near the beginning and one near the end. Fun stuff. Sound design was crucial and I spent more time than I'll admit to timing the cuts to the beat. Tough to do with licensed clips vs. a commissioned musical composition. But it works, especially during the intro. Let me know if there are questions about my process that interest you. Always love to chat...:) Special thanks to Jim Folsom, David MacLaren, Dan Berry, Laurie Sowd, Michelle Bailey, Joe Hale, Javier Oropza and Oscar who wasn't a grouch at all.... Music and some sound effects licensed from videoblocks.com. The rest is from my personal sound library.+ More details

The song "My hope" is about what many people experience in life, A spiral of daily life repetitions and never see their hopes get realised while days flowing by . The message in the song and the video is reflecting to some extreme dramatic situation where the induvidual would be subject of unwanted pauverty, victimised by love to a point of living misery, or having to cope with a disaster caused by nature. The real original inspiriration of "My Hope" came up to Aziz Wayne after having how victimes of the New Orleans flood severly suffered, a situation that left them no choice but to live "Hope" The combination of expressing the sadness of that and cheer up of that raising to spirit to a mindset that "As long as there is life there is hope" And never give it up. In anticipation of a talk I'm going to give on making time-lapse mini-movies, I shot the annual fireworks display held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. During the post-production process I learned how to use the timeline tool in CS6 to create the end montage...much easier than in Premiere. 241 frames plus the end montage and opening and closing sequences make up the assets.+ More details
