Iceland is magical! There's no other way to describe it. My wife and I recently took a trip to Iceland and explored some incredible spots along the southern coast and around Reykjavik. I put together a little video to recap some of our trip, but nothing compares to experiencing it in person. More photos from our trip here: http://bit.ly/ugmonkicelandblog Shot on my Olympus EM-10 and 12-40 f2.8 lens. • Panasonic GH3 pre-production preview video

          from Joran Maaswinkel Added 3,175 9 40

A short video impression from a Panasonic DMC-GH3 pre-production model. I have no experience with earlier Panasonic GH camera's so don't expect any in depth shots and knowledge of the camera from me ;) Disclamer: Footage is from pre-production model with firmware 0.5. Camera was NOT final at the time of use! I had the change to try the Panasonic DMC-GH3 in a testpanel from Focus and Panasonic Netherlands to try this upcoming camera. We had three hours time to shoot some footage (photo and video) and giving some feedback about the camera. It was my first contact with a Panasonic camera and it was a good one. The camera is nicely balanced in my hand, it has a splash and dustproof body (we used it outside while it was a bit rainy) OLED touchscreen on the back was bright (it was cloudy so I don't know how it will hold in the sun?) Nice extra feature is the onboard Wifi, you can control the camera from your smartphone (with an iOS or Android app) without having a Wifi access point. The use of creative filters on your video is a nice feature but when once you set it on, you don't get a extra clean version of your shot. Because the time was limited to try all things I can't give a honest verdict, what disappoint me during the preview where the anti aliasing and the rolling shutter but for the rest I think this is a potential (video) camera. You can download the mp4 file. For all that didn't saw this https://vimeo.com/52019304 video this one is much better then mine and shot on the same day. It's clear that my camera wasn't set up properly

            from DEFY Added 40.5K 237 40

We wanted to share a bit more test footage from the DEFY G2, this footage is from some testing we did last week, as we put the gimbal in the hands of a few members of the Relentless, Inc. team. We have many more excerpts to show, but this should shed some light on what this mighty stabilizer is able to do. Remember this model, DEFY G2 opens for pre orders on July 9th. G5 for DSLR cameras will become available shortly after, as well as G10 for cameras like RED Epic and other beloved large cameras. For more info visit: defygimbal.com.

An HONORABLE MENTION submission to the Vimeo Weekend Challenge, for the weekend of April 12th, 2014. I had just started following Taylor Hall’s Instagram account (http://instagram.com/chiefin_taylor) when I read that the Vimeo Weekend Challenge assignment for that week was to make a film about "human movement." So I got in touch with Taylor and asked if he wanted be the subject of a three minute or less micro documentary. Taylor Hall is a yo-yo thrower, collector, and general skill toy enthusiast living in Los Angeles, California. Thomas Edward Smith is the proprietor of Ampersand Moving Pictures: http://ampersandmovingpictures.com This film was shot and edited over the course of 24 hours. I used a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G6 and the Vario 14-42mm kit lens. For the 120 fps slow motion shots I used a GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition. Interview audio was mic'd with an Audio Technica Pro-70 lavaliere. The song used is “The Great Break-off" by The Insider (http://www.cheshiremusic.net). I made this video because I wanted to, but if you had fun watching, consider tipping me a some Ðogecoins: DTjELaM4kRmgmirRRxwSvC5gNneGNxmQMD

                  • Af100 Dynamic Range Stretch

                    from Burmoco Added 3,408 21 25

Dynamic Range Stretch - +2 has more noise in it, but I think it adds something to it. It's more organic. +1 was fine. After the last couple days I'm starting to realize that it's better to find a good exposure through the viewfinder or LCD and then bring it down a touch. Also used the waveform a bit and it was handy. I don't really know how to use it, but I tried to keep everything kind of in the middle. I think using the DRS puts some grain on the footage which is pretty consistent with film. Gives it some life. We used the Nikon 50mm 1.4 with the Voigtlander Nikon-to-4/3's adapter. Had the aperture at 2.8 because I found 1.4 to be soft. ISO 200 and used ND 3 on the camera. Those built in ND's are very handy.
