What do you get when you cross a guitar and a Wii controller? A way to extend the guitar intuitively by mapping audio effects onto gestures. MIT Media Lab has a regular Labcast (a 2008 Webby award winner) featuring work done by some of its researchers. The one currently posted is titled “The Psychology of the Guitar“. Rob Morris, a student at the Media Lab, has strapped a Wii to an electric guitar and is mapping the gestures made by the player of said guitar. Morris hopes to study how the player’s movements correspond to the music change, particularly pitch changes. All Rights Reserved, MIT Media Lab Labcast, 2009 http://labcast.media.mit.edu/
