Here's an early 2012 season first ascent partner and I completed at a crag that is not very well known outside of our small circle of partners here in Anchorage, Alaska. The wall offers many other first ascents to the willing. The rock is a little chossy here and there but nothing to over the top to deal with. I plan on returning this summer to complete some “summer” rock climbs, this should bring to light some more of the winter cragging possibilities. The moss is especially sticky and abundant at this crag. We ended the line just shy of the top due to questionable rock and the lack of warm motivations... Enjoy!

I finally climbed my 'big' winter project. The route which is about 25m high goes up a vertical thin smear of ice to some thicker ice and a overhanging mixed section at the top. I did it though all protected with trad gear (cams and ice screws). It was my first official attempt so I was pretty stoked. Physically even though the route was steep it felt fine but it was a very hard mental route. There are many things that went wrong with the film. 1. I accidentally left the camera in Manual Focus....so it is slightly out of focus all the time. 2. We had a light malfunction where our big light stopped working properly 3. The camera turned off before I reached the top. I was climbing very slow due to the bad ice so I had to be very careful. I started climbing after about 8min... then the camera shut off at 29.30. I edited out the parts where I was placing most of the gear. 4. The bottom camera as a backup didn't work in the top section so you can't really see me finish up the route. In hind sight I should have tried to re film the top section. In anycase I did the first ascent! I named it Bozemanator since it goes over a summer route named the Bozeman. I was thinking to give the route a M6 grade but I added the plus(+) when the top section was quite tricky and had to do some one arm pull ups. Thanks to Juppe for being patient and also helping out!

Here's a video of 3 climbs partners and I have had fun with recently. All are pretty sporty in nature. Climb one is a project that I just can't seem to clip the anchors on, we'll see how things go this summer. The second route is this seasons recently bolted addition in Eklutna Canyon, AK. The third route is a line partner and I established this season in Caribou Creek, AK. Caribou Creek has been stellar this season due to early season moisture. Thanks and enjoy!

Digitally remastered from the original 1990's scuzzy VHS! The classic tale of a bunch of Glasgow students charging headlong into a year of climbing adventures in Scotland and the Alps.... ***If you enjoy this, please make a donation to our charity for this year: Lochaber Mountain Rescue, who have bailed us out more than one over the years! They weren't the only ones, so we'll be supporting a different Mountain Rescue Team next year*** http://www.justgiving.com/nicktarmey (Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team) The search for the perfect day's climbing- that's what takes Glasgow University Mountaineering Club on a year of adventures from Ben Nevis and the Cairngorms, past the islands and disused quarries of the West of Scotland to the highest places in the Alps. Made with a single video camera and a big load of enthusiasm, Living for the Weekend show's that there's really no need to take it all too seriously.
