1. Cusp 2011 / Molly Crabapple

    from Cusp Conference / Added

Artist, comics creator and entrepreneur, Molly Crabapple has been called "a downtown phenomenon" by The New York Times and "THE artist of our time" by comedian Margaret Cho. Using her hyper-detailed Victorian pen for graphic novels, giant nightclub murals, and for clients like DC Comics, Marvel Comics, SXSW, Red Bull and the Wall Street Journal, Molly is also the founder of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School - an alt.drawing salon with branches in 120 cities from Akron to Zagreb - which Roger Ebert recently called "inspired." Molly has spoken at the Museum of Modern Art, The Brooklyn Museum, and in museums and universities from Helsinki to Sao Paulo.

In April of 2013 Molly Crabapple unveiled nine immense paintings along with a 'Wheel of Fortune' at Smart Clothes Gallery in New York City. The show was "Shell Game" and it was the culmination of a years worth of sketching, painting, interviews and travels documenting the various uprisings and social unrest from Occupy Wall Street to the protests in Greece. From the Tunisian Revolution to the Spanish M15 movement. Shell Game was a solo show funded entirely through Kickstarter. The art is available under Creative Commons via mollycrabapple.com.
