The purpose of Wildlife Captive is to expose the exotic pet trade market operations and negative impact to raise public awareness and dissuade exotic pet buyer demand in this multi-billion dollar industry. The exotic pet trade is a multi-billion dollar industry, second only to drugs and weapons on the black market. Many exotic animals are plucked directly from their native habitats, and poachers often kill protective mothers to capture more desirable infant animals. As a corollary, many species have gone extinct or become endangered in the last 40 years, while the delicate ecosystems that rely on those species to further life cycles of plants and keep animal populations in check is quickly vanishing. Wildlife protection organizations and animal rights groups in Canada, the U.S. and Ecuador, such as Tueri foundation, Sumak Allpa, Born Free USA and Storybook Farm Primate Sanctuary are working together to save endangered species and stop illegal poaching and deforestation. Wildly Captive exposes the impact of the exotic pet trade to deter buyer demand. PLEASE SUPORT US AT https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/wildlife-captive-the-trade-of-exotic-animals

«Mauritius is a beautiful Island, it is regularly visited by tourists, particulary from France and the UK, it is portrayed internationaly as a Paradise. Sadly, there is a dark side to the Island» explains Michelle Thew from the BUAV, the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection. Mauritius is actually a leading exporter of primates for the research industry. Exporting 10 000 monkeys a year for an amount of 30 M€, it is second to China. But it is a cagey, secretive industry in a hindu-dominated country where monkeys have a special status. 52% of the population is hindu, and worship the monkey-god Hanuman.
