Mr Moco Rentals were honoured to be asked to work with Chris Cunningham to create his live event, Jaqapparatus for the launch of the new Audi City showroom in Mayfair. The live show consisted of two Talos Motion Control rigs fitted with cameras, powerful lasers and CO2 canisters. Our rigs are usually the ones doing the filming, but for this event the roles were flipped and the rigs were actually the ones being filmed. We provided Chris with a 3D generated mock-up of the Talos in Maya that was then used to choreograph the two rigs in a brutal battle. The moves were imported from Maya to the rigs via Flair motion control software. http://www.nowness.com/day/2012/9/4/2410/chris-cunningham-jaqapparatus-1 audi.co.uk/audi-innovation/audi-city.html http://mrmocorentals.com/equipment/talos/

"Never thought a Milo would be on the catwalk at a fashion show? Think again! Gainsbury & Whiting came up with the idea of incorporating motion control in the live Paris runway show of Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen. Two identical Milos both on 50 foot of track were positioned on stage capturing the models in their 12 inch high shoes as they paraded the catwalk. Not only were the Milos being used to capture footage, they were a key element to the show itself - with the opening featuring just the rigs on stage moving under spotlights. The show was live in front of the world’s press, fashion designers and celebrities and was also simultaneously broadcast worldwide via the web. The 17 minute broadcast went off like clockwork.

Working with Marshmallow Laser Feast, Mr Moco Rentals provided two moco rigs to shoot this teaser for the McLaren P12, McLaren vs Aerodynamics. Light painting has been around for decades – but it has never been put into full motion like you will see here. The technique behind this started with processing wind tunnel airflow data using custom-designed software to produce a 1,000-frame 3D animation. Each frame was then sliced into 650 individual frames to produce a 3D space, a bit like a medical CAT scan. It was then filmed using the Animoko rig and Modula Base from Mr Moco Rentals. The Modula base had a plasma screen mounted on it, while the Animoko was fitted with a digital stills camera. The plasma screen was then used as a moving 3D light printer while the camera shot the resulting footage using long exposure photography. We did this 1,000 times for each frame, moving the camera a tiny amount each time to show movement. Mark Roberts Flair software was used to control the rigs and trigger a further two stills cameras for different angles. The images were then rendered. Twice. Rendering 1.3 million frames takes up a lot of storage space and time: 1.3 Terabytes and 3,600 hours, to be exact. http://mrmocorentals.com/equipment/animoko/ http://mrmocorentals.com/equipment/modula/ Credits: Concept, Design, Art direction and Technical Direction: MarshmallowLaserFeast (Co-Directed by James Medcraft) Software design and development: Raffael Ziegler Sound design: Tom Halstead Visual Effects - Moving Picture Company: VFX Producer: Michael Stanish Lead 3D: Duncan McWilliams 3D: Thomas Rowell Producer: Holly Restieaux Executive Producer: Peter Bowker Client Liaison: Ben Risk Motion Control: Ian Menzies and Nigel Permane at MrMoco Rentals Gaffer: James Smith-Pryor Rigger: Jon Last Runners: Spike Laurie, Rudy Vermorel, Charlie Barclay, Runyararo Mapfumo Behind the Scenes Filming: Sandra Ciampone, Steve Glashier Behind the Scenes Photography: Sandra Ciampone

http://www.mrmoco.com/products/heads/SFH-50/index.php The SFH-50 pan tilt head has been designed to provide precision and accuracy not normally found on similar sized heads, making it suitable for a much wider range of applications. Precise enough to be completely pixel accurate with HD and super-HD cameras, compact and lightweight to be used on any location for that perfect time-lapse shot and strong enough to take a wide range of cameras and lenses, the SFH-50 offers a huge scope. The head can be used with any of our intelligent controllers such as the MSA-20 Handwheels, Joystick Console, Pan Bars or a PDA running AEON. When combined with our Academy Award winning Flair software, it delivers features for every occasion, from Virtual Studio interfacing, to animation, time-lapse, timecode triggering, GPI, GPO and of course the head is fast enough to be usable for live action too.
