Margaret Anderson leaves behind a husband and 2 young children. June 21st, 2012: Climbing Ranger Nick Hall accidentally fell to his death while performing an on-mountain rescue of 4 injured climbers near the summit of Mount Rainier. August 13, 2012: A group of 5 entrepreneurs, creatives and adventure-enthusiasts set out to summit Mount Rainier to raise funds for Margaret's husband and two children, and for Nick Hall's family. For 4 of the climbers, Ryan, Paul, Bradley and Jeff, this was their "first ascent". Michael Rowley, Founder of 14,4 Foundation, has built his foundation on a passion for helping those whom have been injured in the outdoors, or families who have lost loved ones to the outdoors. This climb marks the first fundraising effort by 14,4 Foundation to help a family who lost a loved one in the line-of-duty. www.Rainier20Twelve.com www.FourteenFour.org --------------------- CLIMBING TEAM: Michael Rowley - Founder - 14,4 Foundation - www.FourteenFour.org Ryan Frederick - Founder - Crux Watches - www.CruxWatches.com Paul Blackmon Brad Castaneda - Creative Director - TwentyFiveThree - www.TwentyFiveThree.com Jeff Marsh - Owner/ Director - 5 Mile Films - www.5MileFilms.com --------------------- Directed by Jeff Marsh - www.5milefilms.com Produced by Fourteen Four Foundation - www.FourteenFour.org Filmed by Bradley Castaneda and Jeff Marsh Edited by Bradley Castaneda - www.BradleyCastaneda.com Editing and Coloring by Jeff Marsh Edited in FCPX Colored in LR4 using VSCO Film presets - www.VisualSupply.co --------------------- GEAR provided by Borrow Lenses - www.BorrowLenses.com Canon 5d Mark 3 Canon 5d Mark 2 Canon 7d Canon 5d iPhone 4s Canon 16-35mm 2.8 L lens Canon 35mm 1.4 L lens Canon 24mm 1.4 mark 2 L lens Canon 24mm 1.4 mark 1 L lens Rode Video Mic Pro -------------------- SPONSORS: Visual Supply Co - www.VisualSupply.co Apple Physical Therapy - www.ApplePT.com Rhino Camera Gear - www.RhinoCameraGear.com Borrow Lenses - www.BorrowLenses.com Die Cut Stickers - www.DieCutStickers.com Makin Music - www.MakinMusic.com Outdoor Research - www.OutdoorResearch.com Crux Watches - www.CruxWatches.com 5 Mile Films - www.5MileFilms.com Bradley Castaneda - www.BradleyCastaneda.com REI - www.REI.com Arc'teryx - www.Arcteryx.com Whittaker Mountaineering - www.WhittakerMountaineering.com Petzl - www.Petzl.com --------------------- DONATIONS: Making donations is simple. "The temperature was below zero, the winds were light and the snow was shin deep with nothing firm lurking underneath. I had dreamed of this day for years. We were alone without any wind and below us was going to be some of the best turns of our life. The snow stayed consistently soft for the entirety of the run, riding 4600 feet to the White River crossing before stopping. In total we hiked over ten miles, 5400 feet and 13 hours for a single run." ~ Kyle Miller JUST ANNOUNCED, October 30, 2012, FreeRider was awarded Best Documentary Short at the Yosemite International Film Festival. Crest Pictures is pleased to announce the release of their latest production, FreeRider, a short film about splitboard mountaineer Kyle Miller. FreeRider is a documentary chronicling Miller's passion for his sport, his great love of the wilderness and mountain scenery, his ski bum lifestyle, his triumphs and disappointments, his pain and his joys, and his unyielding dedication towards fulfilling his riding dreams. Each season Miller sets a high bar for himself. In 2010, he successfully climbed and rode all 25 volcanoes in the Western United States. Last season he went for and completed Washington’s 10 highest peaks while the cameras rolled during the filming of FreeRider. FreeRider had its world premiere on December 9, 2010 at the 7th International Free Ride Film Festival in St-Lary-Soulan, France. We were very proud to be one of the sixteen freeriding films to compete in this elite event. And, pretty stoked too! Kyle was on hand to introduce the film to a packed theater. FreeRider had its U.S. premiere on Friday, Feb 3, 2011 at the Seattle Mountaineers in front of the hometown crowd. Filmed while on a 4-day backpack at Mt Rainier National Park in mid-August, 2013. This is one of our favorite places on the Mountain, though we hadn't been back there in awhile. We were not disappointed. The scenery is awe-inspiring ... from sculpted glacier ice and foggy shrouds to gently cascading rills and sweet scented heather fields. The roar of the crumbling volcano is a constant reminder of how our own lives hang in the balance as well. The hauntingly beautiful music is an original composition by local Northwest talent Dylan Fant. Dylan is an accomplished composer and musician. He also owns and operates 1 Shot Studio in Woodinville, Washington.
