Here is the final video of the Shower scene. Shading, Lighting, Rendering and Water Simulation by me. Textured head with morph targets by Sri Ram. Some details : Head modeled in max and sculpted, posed and textured in Mudbox Water was simulated with glu3d gpu at 400 fps. (and it was fast at that fps to simulate) Simulation took 2 hours (realtime) and the final rendering took 70 hours using iRay. Water meshing was done with Frost which was realtime. www.jhjariwala.com www.sriramatrix.com

edit: I can not believe all these appreciations and encouraging words, this means a lot to me. can't stress how much! I'm really really grateful for all the words and time you put watching and spreading this. this brought me a success which I'll never forget. thank you and thank you! :-S #=================================================================================== First of all, I’d like to thanks everyone for watching and also those who helped with their feedbacks so it can look the way it does. A project I did in my spare time at home after work and during the weekends. I was responsible for everything, from the actual concept and modeling and rigging to the final rendering and compositing, as well as the music and sound design. Took me 3 to 4 months start to finish, the final rendering using arnold took around 12 days 24/7. My machine specs are: Xeon E5-2687 3.10 GHz (2 processors) 64 GB RAM Nvidia Quadro 6000 Softwares used: zbrush, maya, arnold renderer, nuke You can also go ahead and check out a little making of video of it here: https://vimeo.com/107398431 Please feel free to ask questions about how it's made, I'd love to also open up some sort of discussion regarding that :) wish the best for all cheers www.RamtinAhmadi.com

This video is a high quality training video from The Guerrilla CG Project a non for profit organisation dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of computer graphics. The polygon is the basic building block of all 3d models. Here we discover its properties, like the face normal, which shows the direction the polygon is facing and it's three components the face, edge and vertex. Complicated objects are made of lots of polygons put together. *Edit, the terms "Planar" and "Non Planar" should be "Coplanar" and "Non Coplanar" respectively. An example of old metal surfaces, sculpted and painted in Mudbox. specular made with photoshop. You see that the main effect comes through the specular map. just take your diffuse and darken the red rusty areas so that they wont display any specular effects. I plan to create a short tutorial on this.

Character artist Dan Roarty walks us through the process of creating one of his hyperrealistic 3D portraits, "Happy Birthday, Nana," a tribute to his late grandmother. Dan shows how he uses the sculpting tools in Mudbox and Maya to create the basic bust form and adds the layers upon layers of detail, texture, and tone with programs like Knald and Shave and a Haircut. Finally, he lights the scene and composites the final render passes in Photoshop to create a realistic portrait that honors his grandmother's memory. Dive in to find out how he does it.
