We helped produce this guerrilla style tribute to recently diseased Beastie Boy's rapper, Adam Yauch (MCA), which was conceived by creatives James Beswick and Dan White in order to raise funds for the Cancer Council. The clip went viral gaining coverage on Channel 9 News, Pedestrian TV, UK's Sabotage times, Aus Infront, to name a couple... Produced without permission of the Museum of Contemporary Art, it was a sneaky (unofficial) installation which was later invited back by Artist/curator Shaun Gladwell to officially perform it as part of the 2012 Biennale. Video for that one coming soon. Check out the tribute FB page too: https://www.facebook.com/MCAattheMCA

    • Natalia Benedetti, An Immaculate Murder, 2001

Natalia Benedetti's video "An Immaculate Murder" juxtaposes the tranquil images of a cat with an audio track describing the methodology for a perfect murder. The audio segment is cut from Alfred Hitchcock's film "Rope." "An Immaculate Murder" explores the complexities between victim and aggressor; the viewer is not sure whether the cat is a symbol of guilt or innocence. Benedetti's work was included in the MOCA exhibitions, "Making Art in Miami: Travels in Hyperreality", 2000 and "The House at MOCA" in 2001. Her film, "Let's Get Lost", was projected on the museum's art court wall in December 2001.

      • Artist, Woman, Human: Feminism in Practice

PANEL: "Artist, Woman, Human: Feminism in Practice" Chair: Anoka Faruqee, Yale University Panelists: Mariángeles Soto-Díaz, University of Iowa; Erika Suderberg, University of California, Riverside; Dorit Cypis, Independent Artist Materialist, pragmatist philosophies, such as the neo-humanism of Edward Said and engaged secular Buddhism, strive to define social theory apart from dogma and lament the lack of methodologies of “practice” (as in relation to the prosaic and the body, for example) in Western philosophical traditions. We will discuss conflicts between dogma and practice, defining “practice” as artistic, activist or even religious, with a focus on feminist histories. Ultimately, to address systemic inequities in society, including entrenched patriarchy, no gesture is too small. In 2012, social inequities can be subtle enough to seem invisible; and resistance may function in a similar way. The myth that activism must be singularly fierce to be committed needs to be challenged. We need to think of activism in the plural and open form. What shapes do activism and feminism take during the day: at home, in the classroom or in the studio? EVENT: Shares & Stakeholders: The Feminist Art Project Day of Panels at the 100th Annual College Art Association Conference The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) February 25, 2012 Organized by Audrey Chan and Elana Mann http://sharesandstakeholders.com

        • Damplifly with audience

Damplifly by Johannes Bergmark, Luc Kerléo and a colleague. was a sound environment exhibited at OKNO festival in Szczecin, poland in November, 2008. Venue: Muzeum Narodowe w Szczecinie, ul. Staromłyńska 27 (Museum of Contemporary art) at ul. Staromłyńska 27. “This group of musicians, sculptors and performers prepared an interactive sound environment especially for the OKNO Festival, available for the audience all the time during the festival. Their point of departure is curiosity for experiencing the sonic possibilities: of objects and space and our relation to them, matter and lack of it and the work of our imagination upon it. Each place has its sonic reality independently on human presence, but when we enter it we become part of it. The space is an invitation to adventure in exploring the physical and emotional geographies of sound which differs between us, as well as playing with sound in unusual ways. By the sound potential of everyday objects, encaged sound fragments and surprising or mysterious background noises, they leave the decision to take an active or passive part to every visitor.” More at http://bergmark.org/damplifly

Sydney was once again transformed into a spectacular canvas of light, music and ideas when Vivid Sydney took over the city after dark for 3 weeks between May and June this year. Colouring the city with creativity and inspiration, Vivid Sydney 2012 drew the biggest crowd yet, rapidly becoming a must-see event for all residents and visitors of Sydney. I was commissioned by Destination NSW, the organisers of Vivid Sydney, to create a timelapse of the hugely popular light projections at the Sydney Opera House and the surrounding precinct. You are watching the highlights from a total compilation shot over 3 weeks. I want to say a big thank you to Destination NSW for allowing me to join their Media Crew and a big thank you to you for watching my video. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think of the timelapse, as well as any questions you would like to ask. I look forward to uploading my next timelapse. Be sure to check out my Vivid Sydney 2011 timelapse if you haven't already: https://vimeo.com/24742689 Got an idea for a cool timelapse? Send me a message and let's bounce some ideas off each other!
