        • KEYS, MONEY, PHONE a short film by Roger Young - TRAILER

          from MUTI / Added

KEYS, MONEY, PHONE Short Film director: Roger Young producer: Shanna Freedman executive producer: Guto Bussab production house: MUTI FILMS starring: Anton Taylor, Amy Wilson, Mzi Vava and Bongani Baba Titana. Synopsis: Sebastian arrives home, from a heavy night drinking in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. Getting out of the taxi, he realizes, too late, that he doesn’t have his keys, his wallet and his cell phone. He tries to convince the security guard at his apartment complex to let him in, but the security guard just won’t help. What follows is his futile attempts at convincing his friends to help him out with a couch to crash on until the morning. About the director: Roger Youngʼs film career started in earnest when his short film, “Coming Out Of Water” was presented The Most Courageous Film prize by Claire Denis at the 1994 Weekly Mail Film festival in Johannesburg. After a brief stint in production and cast co- ordination working on films such as Arthur Pennʼs “Inside”, Showtime/Film Afrika's Mandela and De Klerk biopic with Sidney Poitier and Michael Caine, and the ill fated Tarzan And The Lost City. He went on to direct numerous music videos, and then have a short, award winning, but unsatisfying career in advertising. After leaving advertising, he produced and directed a number of experimental documentaries and short films before he went on to work as part of the team that created the soap opera, Scandal; this prompted him, in shame, to abandon film-making. For several years he wrote short fiction and eventually settled down for three years to co-create and manage the alternative arts and pop culture journal, Mahala. In 2012 Young quit Mahala to focus entirely on film once again. Young is currently developing two features, "Suburban Whites", a kidnapping drama that highlights racial tensions, and "Love Runs Out", a teen love story set against the live music scene. Young is a contributor writer for publications such as Rolling Stone, City Press and the Mail & Guardian's Thought Leader. Recently he produced an art work around the notions of white accountability and complicity in the South Africa's ongoing struggles with inequality; taking the form of t-shirts emblazoned with the text "I benefitted from apartheid", the work generated massive press locally and internationally and was the cause of major national debate.

Another forthcoming tune from their upcoming release on Muti Music. The Realist are here to tell it like it is. They are the political party that doesn't want your vote. They are the religion that doesn't want you kneeling at their altar. They are the uncomfortable truth that you don't want to hear. Taking no prisoners in their war of attrition against the superficiality and moral hypocrisy of polite society and popular culture, The Realist stay true to their name. Part hip hop crew, part rock group, The Realist is producer, The Triplet of Bellville (TOB), and rappers Kid Clever and Sinister Dexter. Wearing their anger and disgust like a badge of honour, The Realist defy genres with their bone-crushing fusion of glitch-hop and electronica. With the power of an apocalyptic opera, their sound is characterised by heavy electronic basslines underpinning orchestral soundscapes layered with powerful lyrics and tortured death metal vocals.
