This was my very first experience at creating a documentary (or any film for that matter!). For National History Day in 2009, Nat Henry, Isaac Hoffman, Leo Katz, Jack O'Halloran, and myself, all from Shaker Heights, Ohio, produced a documentary on Tom L. Johnson, the mayor of Cleveland from 1901 to 1909. It placed first in Cleveland and Ohio, and competed in the national competition for documentaries. I attribute our success and overall enlightening experience working on this film as the first step in my infatuation with filmmaking and creating independent film projects from scratch.

This short documentary is about Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" (1906) and the food safety and labor reforms the "muckraking" novel affected. I created this video in 2011 and it won first place for Individual Documentary at the Florida History Fair in Tallahassee. I then went on to compete on the national level in Washington, D.C. (National History Day). This was the third historical documentary I created to win at the school and county levels and move on to the state History Fair. I hope you enjoy it! 1st Place Ernest Britt Rumble in the Jungle: Upton Sinclair and the Fight for Reform Spruce Creek High School (Volusia); Teacher: Nicholas Prince http://www.fldoe.org/successstories/2011/05-13.asp

This video is about a Group of people known as the Downwinders. They were people who suffered from the effects of nuclear fallout as a result of the above ground nuclear testing performed by the US Government from 1951 to 1962 in Nevada. This was created by my daughter Diana as her entry for National History Day 2014. She placed 12th at the National contest and was awarded the Junior Division "Outstanding State Entry" award for the State of Utah.

2014 National History Day Hunter College High School, New York City The rights of farm animals are violated in cruel and inhumane ways on American factory farms; this is done in the name of economic efficiency and is perpetuated by society, which includes corporate farmers, businesses, government, and the majority of consumers. Farm animals are sentient beings and it is the responsibility of society to insure that they be accorded many of the same legal rights as other members of our society: the right to live according to their basic physical and psychological needs and natures, and to live without cruelty and pain.
