    You must learn to love Boat Posture-eek! Or at the very least develop a high tolerance and a taste for the challenges it presents. This one posture needs to be singled out as like no other, a heavy weight, a main contributor to core strength, and therefor worthy of your friendship. If you cannot lift your seat off the ground in between rounds try using blocks under your hands. When you are strong enough to lift your feet up in front of you and hold, try my 3 in 1 technique that consists of three lifts in one. 1) The first lift is the standard lifting your seat with the feet in front you, 2) the second lift suck the feet and legs up and under you as though you were going to jump back and hold this position momentarily 3) and then return to the original lifted position with your feet in front you, and again hold for a moment before sitting down for another round of Boat. You can do it!!

We’re here in beautiful sunny San Diego on Mission Bay. Today we have the vivacious Helen; she’ll be decoding navasana on a paddleboard today. A great tip is to start by bringing your booty towards the center of your board. From there for beginners, I would start to grab onto your thighs and bring your shins parallel to the board. Notice your core will be burning right away, uddiyana bandha, navel lock into spine. Straighten your spine; keep opening up your chest. From there, if you’re ready for added challenge, you can extend your arms up to the sky. For more rock star moves, you can start to straighten out your legs. Keep your drishti at your toes.         Boat Pose (Navasana) is a great core exercise. So here we warm up with a little neck stretch and move onto core work. This is something to practice and get better. Do what you can and don't get discouraged! If you need a little more support, you can do the Boat Pose challenges holding onto your hamstrings, or even have you hands behind you on the floor. Just keep your heart lifted, take breaks, and breath. And there's a little hip stretch at the end too. Feel free to sit up on your pillow/bolster for this part too.
