    In NEW MEDIA, students develop fundamental skills and knowledge to understand the circumstances and phenomena of digital network culture, to analyze them with interdisciplinary methods and to develop suitable strategies and actions to decode digital communication forms and trends of web 2.0. On this groundwork, the aim is to develop communication and staging strategies for social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter and Co., to refl ect constructions of reality in the virtual space and to comprehend social networks, both on- and offline, as communicative phenomena. In this manner, students also explore how social relationships, working patterns, consumer products and aesthetic design change in regard to the outlines of network culture.

                    Rexona, also known as Degree in the US, came to our digital production company to have Chris Patterson Direct and shoot one of the most challenging sports to film in yet another remote location, in an even more challenging fashion, as part of their series of extreme sports commercials. You can watch the Rexona Base Jumping behind the scenes video here. The concept for this was to capture the two best professional base jumpers in the world J.T. Holmes and Espen Fadness for multiple angels, and then playing them all simultaneously so that the viewer literally sees the jump from every angle possible. Commercial production company extreme sports commercial veterans Espen Fadnesand J.T. Holmes were those two in these base jumping Commercials. First we needed a unique one of a kind high mountain base jumping location. We searched high and low, in our extensive catalog of past locations and even vacation and travel destinations. We consulted with extreme sports athletes who are well versed in action sports adverting and the making of TV Base Jumping Commercials. This shoot was different than anything we had ever shot before however so we needed to go somewhere very far away from home in order to meet all the geographical needs of this location. Low winds, a clear and identifiable helicopter landing zone or LZ, and multiple “perches” on the mountain along the route of the jump for camera and extreme sports safety crews to be stationed inevitably landed us at a Top Secret Location. Careful TV Commercial extreme sports coordination was required us and our longtime base jumping partner J T Holmes and the producers at here at our commercial production company to execute this base jump. Because of the physicality of this sport, the base jumpers who are trained in extreme sports TV commercials would only be able to do two jumps from the top of the mountain, three base jumps if we were really lucky. Ultimately we were unable to shoot on our first planned extreme sports commercial shoot day. High winds made it impossible for us to fly the multitude of helicopters to drop off our crew or athletes J.T. Holmes and Espen Fadness at the top of the extreme base jumping mountain. We shot the following day during two small windows of weather that were suitable for flying. We filmed everything we set out to accomplish and more shooting on literally every camera system out there. Phantom, Arri Alexa, Red EPIC, GoPro, Cineflex, Shot-over, and Canon 5D,’s were all utilized during this shoot. The end result was beyond EPIC and one of the best base jumping commercials ever. It was truly an amazing extreme sports commercials project and we were so fortunate to combine it with an extraordinary group of extreme athletes J.T. Holmes and Espen Fadness, crew and the base jumping TV Commercial production company staff.
