Continuing my forays in the world of DuIK Tools, I thought I'd share a little video I prepared the other day for someone who emailed me about the integration of DuIK Tools and the Puppet Tool. I'm planning a more comprehensive tutorial on the subject but this quick intro gives you the essence of the technique so you can launch your own experiments. If your not familiar with DuIK Tools, you might want to watch this video first: http://vimeo.com/7872163 Or visit the DuIK website: http://ik.duduf.com Or, follow me @ twitter.com/famostv

        • Muybridge Revisited - DuIK in action!

A quick tribute to the Godfather of Motion - Eadweard Muybridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eadweard_Muybridge) Continuing my experiments with DuIK tools, I figured I would do a little motion test by bringing to life some of Muybridge's motion captures. This animation was incredibly easy to generate. I simply found some of Muybridge's image sequences online and used them to pose the rigged skeleton (see my tutorial: http://vimeo.com/7872163). Simply pose the skeleton against the first frame, keyframe that position, move to the next frame, slide the reference image over to the next position, adjust the skeleton, and so on, until you've gotten the full motion cycle. Then it's just a matter of selecting all the key frames and stretching them out holding ALT to get the right timing. Because the character is rigged, the tweening between positions is anatomically correct. No fuss. No hassles. Just happiness. Thank you DuIK Tools. - - - - - Audio: Aniki - Where Is It Remix http://www.myspace.com/aniki_da_supreme

Welcome DuIK Tool's very first English language tutorial! DuIK Tools is a revolutionary Inverse Kinematics script for After Effects developed by Nicolas Dufresne a.k.a DuDuf (http://vimeo.com/duduf) which brings the principles behind 3D rigging to After Effects, giving greater precision and faster, more lifelike animations! Check here for an example of it in action: http://vimeo.com/7908382 Click here for the skeleton source file: http://tinyurl.com/yjmy6uj For more info, visit DuIK's site: http://ik.duduf.com ------ I stumbled upon it randomly through Google a few weeks ago. A single post in an Andrew Kramer forum was raving about the technique but lamenting the fact that there was no English language tutorials out there. The cry was for Mr. Kramer himself to do one but the big man was probably too busy on some Hollywood blockbuster to hear his disciples in need. So, I thought I'd step in...for the greater good of the community, of course. Thanks to DuDuf for letting me put the word out there. This script is amazing! It has totally revolutionized my animations and increased the bounds of my creative spectrum. This is my first tutorial so I hope it serves its purpose. Any comments or suggestions on how I could improve this tutorial would be most appreciated! There is much more to DuIK which I will explore in future tutorials. I just wanted to share its central essence, so other people could enjoy playing with it like I have. Cheers! ---- twitter.com/famostv
