Nightscape (night landscape) photography and timelapse imaging becomes very popular thanks to the unrivaled beauties of the night sky and improving low light performance of consumers digital cameras . This video tutorial, filmed at two of the world's best dark sky locations, the European Southern Observatory (www.eso.org) sites of La Silla and Cerro Paranal in Chile, includes basic astrophotography tips using a camera and a tripod, and how to step further by adding a portable star tracking mount like Polarie by Vixen (www.vixen.co.jp/en). The hand-size star tracker also works as a panning device in timelapse videos. The video and all the included imagery is produced by The World at Night (TWAN). Production team: Babak Tafreshi (www.twanight.org/tafreshi) and Christoph Malin (www.christophmalin.com). Music by Jesse Hozeny (http://goo.gl/bbXiAF) and Ali Raini (www.tonelabs.com). The tutorial will be also available in German and French. More about Polarie: www.vixen.co.jp/en/polarie/index.html, join the Polarie fan club www.starrypeople.com and share your images. A video tutorial on timelapse photography in general and how to use Polarie startracker and its timelapse adapter for pan motions in timelapse videos. Polarie is one of the most compact star tracking mounts made for sky photographers, made by Vixen (www.vixen.co.jp/en). Timelapse photography of night sky is becoming very popular and practical for wider range of people around the world. Some photographers use their camera simply on a fixed tripod, some others use motion control systems. The user guide video and the included timelapse motions are produced by The World at Night (TWAN, www.twanight.org). Production team: Babak Tafreshi (www.twanight.org/tafreshi) and Christoph Malin (www.christophmalin.com). Music by Ali Raini (www.tonelabs.com). A collage of still image and time-lapse movies taken the night of June 7-8, 2014 from southern Alberta during an all-sky aurora display. I used two cameras: a Canon 6D with 16-35mm lens on a fixed tripod and a Canon 60Da with a 10-22mm lens on a Radian motion control device for the panning motion sequence. I took still images toward the end of the display as it was peaking in intensity.+ More details
