                  On Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech will host "Sheer Good Fortune: Celebrating Toni Morrison." Held in Burruss Hall, the event is hosted by Virginia Tech's Nikki Giovanni, Maya Angelou, and Joanne Gabbin. In this clip, the hosts talk about the importance of celebrating Morrison. Toni Morrison, American novelist, editor, and professor, will be celebrated by guests spanning the fields of literature, music, government, and more. Among Morrison’s best-known novels are “The Bluest Eye,” “Sula,” “Song of Solomon,” and “Beloved.” She won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1993 and in 1988, the Pulitzer Prize for fiction for “Beloved,” which was adapted into a film starring Oprah Winfrey in 1998. In 2006, a survey of writers and literary critics by The New York Times ranked “Beloved” as the best of work of American fiction for the past 25 years.
