On august 2014 Benny Wenda was at the Boom Festival with Andy Gray from Free West Papua Campaign to make a multimedia presentation. “West Papua´s Quest for Freedom” uncovers the suffering of West Papuans. The Indonesian government bans foreign journalists and human rights organisations from West Papua territory, which is slowly being destroyed by international corporations. At the Liminal Village in Boom Festival, the presentation was followed by the screening of “Forgotten Bird of Paradise”, a rare and moving insight into the 52 year West Papuan struggle for peace and independence. Here you can see interviews with Benny Wenda and Andy Gray and a small part of the multimedia presentation they made at Boom Festival. Benny Wenda is the leader of the movement that struggle for the independence of West Papua. He lives in exile in the United Kingdom. In 2003 he was granted political asylum by the British government following his escape from custody while on trial. Following WW2 a series of tribunals was held by the victorious Allied forces. These trials were aimed at prosecuting high ranking Nazi Party officials on accounts of war crimes, crimes against peace and crimes against humanity. The Nuremberg Trials had left an immense impact on International Law. Later the Nuremberg Principles were set as a benchmark for defining war crimes by the United Nations International Law Commission in 1950. But why these overarching principles were merely set to charge the crimes committed by the Nazis and not the victorious powers? Can they still be called upon to try the modern day war criminals? There are widespread reports of torture, massive loss of civilian lives, and destruction of infrastructure and looting of wealth in post-US-invasion Iraq only, not to mention the fact the US-lead war was not sanctioned by the UN. Are America and its allies above the law? In Chronicles of a Crime we witness US sanctimonious approach towards International Laws and Community while committing unspeakable crimes in the name of liberation and freedom in Iraq. Experts’ interviews help the viewers realize what it means to be the one who has written the law itself to be implemented against others and not one’s self. PRESS TV Documentaries

WATCH NOW!: https://www.yekra.com/project-censored Promote this Film: http://ykr.be/dhges7r1m Synopsis: Many documentary films give us important information about what is wrong with our society, but they often fail to offer a solution. 'Project Censored: The Movie' explores and publicizes censorship in our society by exposing important stories that the public should be aware of, but is not. Project censored is a media watchdog group and is the solution to Corporate Media's failure to give the American public real news and information.College students can enroll in a Project Censored course and from there learn to become citizen journalists and uncover the real news that our society needs to become an informed electorate. Since the class was founded, the project has grown to include over 25 colleges and universities across the world that offer a Project Censored course. It was the filmmakers' inspiration, as two fathers from California, to take Project Censored on the road and create a documentary film that explores why corporate media fails to report the truth. They spent the past six years of their lives creating this incredibly inspiring film, which reaches all audiences. Corporate media critics like Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Greg Palast, John Perkins, Cynthia McKinney and a host of others are featured in the film. The result is a beautiful film created by two regular family men who decided it was time to take action against the corporate media giants that have failed the American people in their role as reporting the news. It's time for the people of America to take back the airwaves! Rating: NR Runtime: 65 min Director: Christopher Oscar and Doug Hecker Producer: Christopher Oscar and Doug Hecker Writer: Christopher Oscar and Doug Hecker Notable Cast: Carl Jensen, Peter Phillips, Mickey Huff, Oliver Stone, Cynthia McKinney, Howard Zinn, Nora Barrows-Friedman, Khalil Bendib, Noam Chomsky, Phil Donahue, Daniel Ellsberg
