In Gujarat, we spent two days with Bhaskar Save, the Ganhdi of Indian farming. After visiting his family, seeing their way of life and eating their food, we were inspired to compose a type of visual "poem" out of his non-violent philosophy. Enjoy. Brought to you by NonviolenceUnited.org This is one in what we hope will be a series of our A Life Connected project. A 12-minute uplifting, positive video about the power of making Vegan choices. People everywhere are making choices more connected with their values. We are simplifying our lives, buying less and living more because we know that the Earth provides enough to satisfy everyone's need, but not everyone's greed. But there is one connected choice that sometimes gets overlooked. It's one of the most far-reaching personal, practical and ethical choices you can make. With this choice we can help... >feed ourselves and every hungry person on the planet. >end deforestation >replenish the deep woods of the North and save our disappearing rainforests. >revitalize our rural landscapes and save family farms. >stop the number one polluter of water and the number one waster of water. >return our oceans to thriving underwater worlds teeming with life and wonder. >make cancer and heart disease a rarity instead of a common occurrence. >stop the unnecessary suffering of billions and billions of animals. >and return wild lands to their rightful owners. This powerful choice can be done by everyone every day... by you... right now. Vegan. Every day you are invited to make choices. Live your values. Change the world. It's that simple.

On Dec 10, 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi spoke with a group of high school students at Vashon Island High School in WA State via cell phone. She answered questions from the students during the 20 minute session that occurred before school started for the day. The event, perhaps the first of its kind, was recorded in its entirety with a handheld "Flip" video camera. The first part of the video is background and reaction from two student leaders of the school's Amnesty Club, the host of the event. The next scene is the question and answer session with Daw Suu lasting almost 20 minutes. This is followed by reaction and commentary from a Burmese woman active in the refugee community. The final minute captures the teacher-adviser's thoughts about what had just happened. To put it mildly everyone was thrilled by the experience and it clearly shows. I was present to provide technical support (not knowing anything about this issue) but ended up getting thoroughly drawn into the experience, thankfully I kept the camera rolling. I encourage the viewer to watch the entire video, not only to hear Daw Suu but to see the impact the event had on the students.. priceless...truly heartening. Aung San Suu Kyi was released from house arrest Nov 13, 2010 after more than 15 years of confinement. Now free, she continues her crusade for non-violent political change in Burma by reaching out to students in the United States.
