In WISH, the tension between the male and the female can be interpreted as sexual, the forming of a bond, a celebration. A hope for the future as the title suggests, WISH, may also imply, a longing for a new beginning, a re-birth, or perhaps, even a birth, which would all insinuate continuity in the cycle of life. The materials used inside the colliding vessels, the automobiles, are; milk, butter, flour, eggs, chocolate frosting, candles, and cake sprinkles.

I was the Art Director on this job, which we shot in Miami. Finding all of the the Pink Flamingos turned out to be one hell of a mission. We had to have lots of them loaded with squibs from the Special Effects Dept for multiple takes. Of course, this was the year that they stopped making them in the US and we had to find where the last shipment was made, in order to buy 100 of them. They looked great when we blew up them up.

From 1990-1992, I waged a guerrilla street art campaign, plastering my 'YOUR MOMMA' stencil and posters all over Miami Beach. Since then, street art, particularly, stencils and wheatpasting, has grown in popularity and is a common site in any urban environment.

Again, I was working with Neveldine/Taylor on this project, but it's a mash up of 3 different shoots, unfortunately. I did all the sections with all the partying LA people with the vintage low rider cars, which in this version is the majority of the spot. During my research for the job, I found a vintage Kentucky Fried Chicken 5 bucket chandelier (the buckets were translucent), and a vintage KFC kite. That was a great find. If you look above the dancing girls in the tree, you can spot the lit chandelier. The reason that I don't like the mash-up commercial is because there were so many detailed props that I created and are never seen. There were KFC skateboards, fake 'Andre the Giant has a Posse' stickers (Col. Sanders has an Army!), engraved metal car club plates, 5 vintage cars, etc. Oddly enough, I ran into my friend Sole, who was a principal actress on the shoot. Working around her made the job that much more enjoyable. She's the girl on the thumbnail for this commercial.

I did all the sections with all the partying LA people with the vintage low rider cars. There are two commercials, this being the minute long commercial. The second spot is mostly my work. During my research for the job, I found a vintage Kentucky Fried Chicken 5 bucket chandelier (the buckets were translucent), and a vintage KFC kite. That was a great find. Keep an eye out for the buckets in the tree above the dancing girls. I art directed two spots for this Food Network series. These spots were an excuse to throw a car commercial into their programming, kind of like an infomercial, at hummingbird speed. Feel the synergy!
